The orange should make a nice contrast to the bluish (thanks to the pence) cast.

Nice choice on the top color, that looks great!
What's the bridge on there? Never seen anything like that before.

I agree, the top color is perfect.

Re: Lungs / Adventures in MDF
It is actually quite a bit livelier in real life, I'm struggling to get any decent light for pictures in my flat at the moment (my crappy phone doesn't help either).
That bridge is half homemade - a cheap Mustang bridge with its legs sawn off, propped up on a bit of stainless steel I lifted off a dead hard drive. Not my finest moment as a metal worker but it works well enough! Here's a better picture of it (sans the two outer saddles, I took them off to make sure the screw heads would fit):valley_parade wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 10:07 amNice choice on the top color, that looks great!

It's a really interesting design. I'm a big fan of this whole project (and the original one!).

That's a very cool bridge. Innovative and original.

Re: Lungs / Adventures in MDF
And...done!
Today was a busy day - winding the pickups, drilling some kind of hole to ground the strings, touching up the shellac, mounting everything on the pickguard, assembling the whole thing...
(Flickr is still down, I'll uploaded a few pictures to my GoogleDrive in the meantime)

We even got some sun today so I was able to take decent pictures for once...

Re: Lungs / Adventures in MDF
I somehow managed to upload the pictures to Flickr...So here goes:
I don't know if I mentioned it but that body is really thin - about 1.4" thick - and the finished guitar weighs 5 1/2 pounds. No neck dive, which is a miracle. My brother has had shoulder issues and I wanted to keep it as light as possible. Sound-wise, it is pretty Strat-ish, with a very klonky, snappy attack. I wound the pickup with the Lou Reed / Robert Quine sound in mind, kinda low output and sparkly.
Taking the long drive down South tomorrow to give it to him...Then back to Lungs next week!

Re: Lungs / Adventures in MDF
Finished it looks amazing, but what really draws me (beyond the bridge) is the headstock shape. It's like a perfect amalgam between a Gibson non-reverse Firebird and Fender, but still unique.
