Fender Offset Series Hardtail Bridge

Post by Vijaya807 » Wed Jul 03, 2019 6:39 am

I have a Mustang 90 on order. Unlike many guitars the string spacing isn't listed in the specs. I have found inconclusive info whether the string spacing is 2 1/16 (MIM standard) or 2 3/16 (MIM vintage). I am curious because I'd like to order a Callaham hardtail and wasn't certain which model to order for the offset series mustangs.

Also, does anyone have experience putting a Callaham on an MIM offset series mustang. I'm assuming if I figure out the correct string spacing it should be a drop in replacement? Thank you,

Warmoth has a whole page with bridge routes and measurements:

Dont know about the string spacing on those. You can wait till you get the guitar then measure.

Here it says 52mm at bridge for the Duo-Sonic, and 52.8mm for the Mustang 90, although they share the same bridge: https://guitar.com/review/fender-duo-sonic-mustang/

On my Must-O-Sonic, I use a Hipshot bridge. Drop-in replacement, Stewmac lists it as being 52.8mm (2-1/16").

Wow! That is a gorgeous little guitar. It's simple, clean and super classy. I love it.
I'm going to have to try very hard to stop myself from assembling something similar.

Man, that's beautiful. I like the gold on silver. Classy.

Thanks! 2 1/16 seems to be right. I also looked at the Callahan vintage (2 7/32) vs American standard (2 1/16). The vintage seems to go almost right to the end of the plate whereas the mustang 90 has some space. I ended up ordering the callaham American standard hardtail 2 1/16. Should be here about the same time as the guitar.

Your silver and gold looks great. Nice custom guard crossing the duosonic I and the mustang / duosonic II guard. Also would like to try a hip shot sometime. I am just used to the regular bent steel style saddles. I got my mustang 90 in that silver sparkle. Seems like a great color.

That's the spacing I used on my JM. Which one did you order?
