Re: Silvertone/Talman Mashup
Now that all the parts are here I've moved on to the trial run for this build. I didn't like the red label on the first guard, so I cut a second one from the same record. Here are the pictures:
When I installed the neck I realized that I shanked one of the holes. Fuck! Time to fill and re drill.
Break angle is not ideal. There will be shims.
Time to disassemble, and sand forever. Johnny five does not like this step
It looks fresh to death as it is, but I already have my white and black Johnny Ramone inspired bass. I've dropped a few hints about color choice, but it's safe to say it won't be staying white....

Re: Silvertone/Talman Mashup
Added a base coat of gold, which brought out all the sanding scratches.
Now on to the main event!!!
the color is hard to photograph, but its a green/gold color. Krylon citrus dream. Yum!

What is that bridge you're using? I really like it. How might I find one and how much? Your project looks great. Thanks, Jackthreewordname wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2019 3:44 amI have three options for the bridge ranging from $10 to $30
Thoughts? Opinions?

Re: Silvertone/Talman Mashup
the bridge is a bigsby bowtie bridge, I've also seen it referred to as a Sorkin bridge. I found it on reverb for $30 with free shipping.
without delay here is a mock up from right before i put on clear
and now avengers assemble.
and a close up of the headstock repair, now featuring two different size ferules, because who gives a fuck?

Looking good! The citrus green color is cool. Is the pickup running straight to the jack?

Yes, the thought of fishing a volume pot around in a hollow body sounds just awful. I always run my pots at 10 anyway, so why bother?ThePearDream wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2019 5:38 amLooking good! The citrus green color is cool. Is the pickup running straight to the jack?
My wife asked if this was my new number one, I responded that I am in a polyamorious relationship with my guitars (sp?)
