Flash coat finish how?

Post by SadFuzz » Thu Jul 02, 2020 3:30 pm

I'm thinking of doing a refin project on my JM and want it to have a thin nitro finish as i love how it ages.
What process would i go through to get that, how many coats of paint/laquer etc...
Any help appreciated (:

I'd suggest following one of preeb's (GIl Yaron) amazing build threads over on the TDPRI forum. He's done quite a few Fender-types but the processes he uses are authentic. You will be gone a long time!
Just search his posts in the search thing.

Might be worth considering selling the body you've already got and buying a raw one, if it's got poly on it. Total pain in the ass to strip. I reckon a good percentage of people embarking on these projects get as far as stripping, then look at the gouged up mess and bung it in a cupboard ;)
