First Time Jag Partscaster Advice -- What Route to go?
Hello, I want to build a Jag, or have a Jag built rather. My plan is to get a vintage neck and then have a body built for it. Right now I am considering going through MJT and doing their full kit custom order. This comes with everything minus pickups and electronics and then having someone local (Orange County, Ca -- any suggestions?) do the final assembly, as I have no experience doing anything like this. MJT seems like a good option to me but I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions or general advice on what I should do. Thank you.

Why not just buy a Jag at the price point you have in mind?

Well the dream is to have a vintage custom color jag but I can't justify spending that much anytime soon and I got the idea from my friend who assembled a partstang around a vintage neck he had and it seems like a good compromise to me.

I have two MJT bodied guitars and am quite happy with them, I also have an MJT finished neck on one of the bodies, no complaints there either.
I have not ponied up for the whole MJT build kit but it should be a good as the individual parts. You'll be in the neighborhood of good used American Jag by the time all the parts are added up and then you have to pay someone to assemble them, your custom build will immediately depreciate while a used jag will someday be a vintage Fender. Just a thought.

Isn't a vintage Jag neck worth at least $900+ now? If you get one cheap then cool
