Maybe not, but there certainly won't be a $100 difference in the pickup set.

still,id save for a jag PG and AV pups. it will sound better and also look better.

btw jag pup covers wont fit strat pups.(they will without the claw) you cant have the claw with any other pup except jaguar pups.

Well, to go with normal jag pups it would be a minimum of $150. To go with Strat pups, which are virtually the same aside from some shape differences, it will cost me about $50.

Will the Strat pickups fit normally in a Jaguar pickguard without having to route the pickup holes?

Or, will Jaguar pickup covers fit right over Strat pickups?
yup, the pickups will fit on your HH no problemo  :)

I'm skipping the claw. Yeah, it won't be spot on to a vintage Jaguar, but oh well. The claw doesn't do much anyway. (at lest tonally)

As for Jaguar pups, Strat pickups and jag pickups are nearly identical aside from the bottom shape. The only difference will be that the pickups I put in will be slightly lower output, which I actually want. I've heard nothing but good things about GuitarFetish's GFS pickups on multiple message boards, so I think I'll be happy with their sound.

Also, at such a low price, I can always experiment with other pickups later and I won't be out a ton of money if I decide to try something else later. If I would get the AVRI's and not like them, I'd be out ~$140.

They'll fit perfectly with a Jaguar pickup cover.  ;)

I know - I don't think I specified that I'd be using Jag pup covers though. I'll just be leaving the claw off because of the triangle base. :)

Should the Jazzmaster pickup mounting screws on Guitarpartsresource work to mount the Jaguar pups?

^Because Seymour Duncans would end up being around $200 if I go with the SJAG-1's, and $250+ for antiquities.

Aside from that, I'm basically just paying more for a Strat pickup that's labeled differently.

Can anyone tell me what kind of screws I need to mount the new pickups? Will the Jazzmaster Pickup Screws at guitarpartsresource.com work?

If you get these you won't even need a new pickguard:

The problem is that I really *want* a new pickguard. I don't really like the single ply black guard that's on it now. I'll be replacing it with a red tort guard.  :?

where in hell are you getting your prices from dude, your way over estimating the cost of pups.
GPR has SD sjag1's for $58 each totaling $116 for a pair.
ive bought tons of stuff from GPR and never had a problem with them.they ship world wide for cheap too.

And those don't come with covers the claws or a pickguard.

$116 -pups
$10 - pup covers
$20 - two claws
$40 - Pickguard

=$166 without claws, $186 with. Prices taken from GPR.

With Strat pups;

$30 - boutique Strat pups from Guitar Fetish
$10 - pup covers
$40 - Pickguard

=$80 total. Claws won't fit the Strat pickups, so I left them out.

That's less than half the price for a pickup that's only *slightly* different.

Either way though, I desperately need to know what kind of screws I need to mount ANY pickup in my Jaguar. Will those Jazzmaster pickup screws work??
