It's amazing how communicative and friendly builders are when they are trying to take your money. That goes away the minute they get it.
Still waiting on all of them. Tonebomb, MJT and Parklane. 7, 6, and 5 months, respectively. 5 months on another builder as well. Probably done with parts builders.
Ha, as I write this I get a tracking number for my MJT finished neck. So that happened.

Re: Tonebomb Custom Guitars (Canada)
My experience has only been with already manufactured stuff from Tonebomb, which is pretty damn good. I'm curious what he has going on just within the business and life in general. I'm pretty infamous (mostly to my wife) for estimating a timeframe for something and watching it grow exponentially...Daitong II wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 9:40 amIt's amazing how communicative and friendly builders are when they are trying to take your money. I've purchased MJT from their eBay auctions and have nothing but great things to say about the bodies. As far as commissioned work from builders, BloomDoom has been beyond great. Great stuff with timeframes that were kept. Can't recommend enough.

I keep hearing that about BloomDoom. I just wish I had the funds to buy things from them right now.Daitong II wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 10:45 amI've purchased MJT from their eBay auctions and have nothing but great things to say about the bodies. Re: Tonebomb Custom Guitars (Canada)
I've had one MJT body, it was a light relic LPB tele body from one of their auctions that was really nice (and also expensive). I ended up not vibing with the whole relic thing anymore and sold it before I finished the project, but it was very tastefully done I will say.
Im still waiting on my neck that was expected mid last month, should be "any day now" but this thread has me giving up hope and moving on to the next project I've been putting off finishing to get my mind off of it lol

Re: Tonebomb Custom Guitars (Canada)
I've been happy with bodies from MJT and Bloomdoom but all but one of them have been pre-finished ones from auctions. My only body built to order was my P!-Bass body in LPB from MJT and it did take forever but they did an excellent job and it came in as I requested it. I also had a good amount of experience with their bodies and was familiar with how their terminology applied to their products and such and what to expect and I was pretty open ended, I just wanted a kinda worn but well cared for LPB body with light checking and minimal yellowing. OTT, I was pretty good.

Glad I found this thread. Had been spec'ing out a solid Wenge from TB, and wondering if I can wait the forever period to get it.
May just grab a Warmoth from the pre-made section. We shall see if I wish to test my patience

You're looking for custom on the wood side of things, so this doesn't apply, but I wouldn't hesitate to order something that's in stock and ready to ship and then paint it yourself or find somebody else to apply paint.smalltownsongs wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 10:17 amGlad I found this thread. I've got two Rufftone bodies from Tonebomb that I'm FINALLY going to paint once it's warm again and the wife got me this for Christmas. The carves are beautiful, they're fairly light, and they were really cheap. LOL
But, yeah, I probably wouldn't order anything custom after this thread. I'm too impatient... So if something takes forever I'd rather be the reason myself.

Re: Tonebomb Custom Guitars (Canada)
I at least got my MJT finished neck in December. At least it came out amazingly. I love the Jaguar I built with it.
Still waiting on Tonebomb and Parklane. Supposedly both will be done in about 2 weeks, but I've heard that before. I got a photo of the Tonebomb body that is apparently waiting for buffing. I even got a promise from Parklane, but my benefit of the doubt has been completely worn out. I put in the Tonebomb order last May and the Parklane one in July. I think I'm out on custom parts. I wish I could get into finishing myself, but I live in NYC.

Yeah, I honestly only trust timeframes so far.Daitong II wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 11:42 amI at least got my MJT finished neck in December. At least it came out amazingly. I love the Jaguar I built with it.

I'm a renter in North Jersey. I at least have a back yard and driveway I can do things in but... well... you know what the weather has been like. I wish I had a garage or basement I could build a paint booth in.

I’m probably going to order some more TB stuff soon. I’m not in any hurry, so it doesn’t bother me if it takes a year to get done. Having dealt with them a few times now, i’m confident they will eventually send me something and the quality will be first rate.

Re: Tonebomb Custom Guitars (Canada)
Yeah that was my thinking when I put my order in and their estimated time for the unfinished neck I ordered was 11 weeks, so I figured maybe 16 weeks tops? Im going on 23 weeks now (placed the order in august) and I try to put it in the back of my mind until a month after each email I send to check in. I don't mind longer turnaround times and I know it will be a quality neck, I just really wish they were upfront or at least more conservative with turnaround times so Im not thinking its gonna be finished any day now, every two weeks.
