you can try these guys too, but it sounds like their gold may not be very close to the vintage "gold" finish we would expect.
they do other colours too, though!
i have ordered a guard. i'll let you know....

Yes, our entire business is based on aluminum/steel products! Yes, we can make that guard for you. We have the American and the Japanese templates. You may also send in your original guard or a tracing for duplication. That specific guard would run $75.00 and coloring would be an additional $30.00. Since you have a specific year of your guitars pickguard then I would strongly suggest sending us a tracing or the original so that duplication is perfect!

I can't wait to get your impression on it... If it's better than the one I got, I might as well buy one like that.

Kinda off topic, but I got a control plate made by them and they were super quick and really easy to deal with, for what it's worth.  I sent in a tracing.

It may be a stupid question, but what exactly about a AVRI guard will not fit a Japenese JM? is it the bridge posts or something else much less sinsiter?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

It's much less sinister. The main issue is the mount screw holes, some line up but a few do not. I've also heard of slight problems with the pickup cutouts, but to my experience, only the screw holes are a problem. Disclaimer: It has been a few years since I've had a MIJ or CIJ and fooled around with the pickguards...
