Daphne-ish JM blackguard *UPDATED PHOTOS*
Well, I finally get this thing together. I need to get new strings for it tomorrow since it is strung with way too high a gauge. Anyway, I showed the mockup a couple of nights ago:
Tonight I sanded out the clear as far as I could stand, and got it together. The color is hard to portray on the computer. Tomorrow I will take some sunlight shots and update. For now, I will describe it as a darker, slightly greener daphne. Maybe something between daphne and surf green or something. The color comes from Krylon Blue Ocean Breeze in a rattle can. It has a thin clear coat of auto parts store spray clear. I am hoping it wears nicely.
I got the neck from forum member Souiz. It is an Allparts neck with 7.25" radius and David updated it with clay dots, an early-style decal, reshaped the headstock to JM shape, and finished in clear nitro.
The body is from Paul (stereordinary). It is poplar and is maybe toward the thin end of the spectrum with the JM specs. Exquisitely machined and came nicely sanded and with trem screw holes and neck mounting holes pre-drilled (which is really nice).
The guard is an Eden and fits great except for the bridge holes are not quite right, but close enough a little filing helped. I got it for $11 on a "best offer" on eBay.
Antiquity I pickups.
Cloth wired.
AVRI electronics otherwise.
I got the knobs from a fellow at the local shop from an old worn Strat where some replaced the knobs and gave them to him, to they are genuinely worn and dirty.
And, last but not least, the amber switch tip.
And in this one, I tried to adjust the color to something closer to reality. In truth, I probably am still way off. Hopefully tomorrow's pictures will represent it better:

Nice. Very very nice. I'm really happy that you love the body and you've more than done it justice with the colors.
How do you think it sounds compared to other (most likely Alder) Jazzmasters that you've heard?

It's funny. I am often one who agrees with "needs tort," but staring at this thing all day while I try to work, I realize this is one case where it doesn't apply. It looks hot with the black-on-black.
I have been playing it every once in a while today while I am working from home. It is so dark and powerful sounding. So so different from my Mustang.
