The Firemist looks awesome, but really I wouldn't pick either one to go with a gold guard, too much bling bling, a black guard would be better, maybe a cream guard would go well too.
Vintage yellowed Oly would look nice with that guard, pehaps poo brown also.

ahhh...the question is...IS that shoreline the same as Lay's shoreline? I think your's is a bit more gold, Doug. Thanks! I'm leaning toward regular Firemist...

If I was picking, I would go with the normal (no tint) shoreline. I am seeing a nice two tone thing going on with them. I love these combos no matter what. Just like I love Fiesta Red with tort.

i think the shoreline looks better, unless you're going for the "solid gold guitar" effect

, then go firemist.
thanks for numerous sample blocks - i think i'm gonna let my shoreline thinskin age in the sun and get a golden hue!

Shoreline and the gold guard definitely looks more like something Fender would have turned out in the Early 60s. The Firemist just looks much more modern to my eye. But I honestly don't particularly like the gold guard with either. As my Friend once told her fashion challenged engineer husband "Honey, just because two things are green doesn't mean you can automatically wear them together!"
But between the two I'd go shoreline due to the "vintage" vibe I get from it with the guard. If you want a gold guitar that looks like a modern custom job, firemist all the way.

I agree completely. That probably didn't translate in my post. Man, I want a gold guitar now.

My vote goes for shoreline, the firemist is too dark in my opinion but hey man paint it the colour you love

I like firemist for the flashy reflections, but with the goldguard it’s shoreline - classy combination.

thanks for all of your thoughts....I've decided to use the gold guard for an ash body that I have that will eventually be aged white blonde..pics soon when my camera gets fixed.
This body is going to be shoreline / reg. clearcoat / mint.
