SANVPGD!
That's Super Awesome New Vintage PickGuard Day!
Sookwinder mentioned having an unused vinyl '66 jag pickguard in one of his awesome restoration threads. I want to turn my white jag into a Rowland S Howard Tribute guitar, which would require one. So I asked if I could have dibs if he ever thought of selling it. "I'll send it to you no charge" he said, which is testament to his awesomeness.
It arrived today. I always wondered why the late 60s vinyl guards look good, given the current ones don't. Reading Jim Shine's site told me...it's only the bottom three layers that are vinyl. The tort top is still cellulose nitrate.
I'll install it later today and take a shot. The photos don't do justice to the colours on this one.

Re: SANVPGD!
OK, I'm gonna have to get the rattail out to make it fit, but still... wow, that looks good. I love it how it completely changes colour under different lighting conditions (just like that JM one I got from you, Michael).
Yep, looking closer. Mine's actually too yellow, but hell. Next step: the neck.
Comparison shot:
New '66 guard, original '86/7 guard, '65 guard on my other jag.

So...Is the neck off to Jerker for a B&B treatment next?

Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

On that note, have you checked the pix yet, J?

Re: SANVPGD!
Watch this space. It wouldn't be a proper RSH tribute guitar without B&B, but I want to keep that particular neck, as it's my first offset ev@r. (I have to admit to considering buying a new B&B model, swapping the necks, and then selling it on as a super cheap as-new MIJ with LeG3nD@Ry E-series neck (L@@K), yeah.) Well, skipping then bass and the Silvertone, that is. It's not super priority, so it may take a while. First priority is to have that other one painted.FUZZ_KING wrote: but i sincerely hope the blocks for dots idea is not for real.
