Well, seeing as how no-one liked the first one  I thought I'd have another go at it...it was a toss-up between building this and a Jag.

This one will be short scale, no effects, and pretty much standard Jag switching, but with a series setting on the rotary switch.

First ideas:

I want the colour to be something like this old Epiphone:

Still not sure about the jag control plate...ideas and suggestions more than welcome.

So far I have a nice alder blank, the trem (saved from MOTORIK I before I sold it), an MIJ Jag neck to serve until I make this B&B one, a pair of AVRI Jag pickups which will have to do until I find some better ones (trades for my lollar mustang pickups most welcome!) and both control plates (japanese). I'm pretty sure I have most of the electronics knocking around, too. Only real issue is finding the paint - I doubt I'll be able to get similar in nitro, so I might have to use car paint for the base-coats and nitro over the top. Not really a problem, but I've no experience of non-nitro grain filler, sealer and primer, so I'll have to look into that.

The bridge sits pretty high on this trem, and I ended up angling the neck pocker of the first one quite a lot, so I'm toying with the idea of sinking it into the body about 2mm this time around. Will have to be bloody sure of my scale measurement before I commit to that, though...

Any thoughts?

Jag control plates for SURE! That is a sexy mash-up... and the colour is a brilliant idea. What is the official name of that colour? Is it just aged/yellowed Pelham blue?

And just an idea but lately I've been really fascinated with Mustang style no-holes pickup covers... might be something to think of just for aesthetics.

The recessed bridge is a sweet idea too though.

Almost positive that Epi is a very yellowed clear-coat Pelham Blue.

The one *without* the Jag plate looks way better to me. :)

Looking forward to it.. As long as you stick to those headstocks and not the ugly penishead.

It's just getting your old mustang/duo control plate ;D

Sticking with a Jag headstock on this one, so no need to worry Bolteh. The last one was a lot of extra work - more time than I can afford at the moment.

Woohoo! Just checked Manchester Guitar Tech and they're stocking Pelham Blue now! Problem solved ;D And they do Charcoal Frost now, too, which is very good news.

This should be interesting! :)

Did you consider doing a matching headstock?

It's weird, when I look at the picture without the control plate, it seems like sth's missing. When I look at the picture WITH the control plate, it feels too much. Hmm.

Perheps do it Jazzmaster style?
