One of my latest
I have been exploring odd finishes, and here is one of my latest. I have wanted to do a Paisley for years but have never been able to find the correct paper.
Well here is one I did w/ Origami Paper.
I dont really have any good neck pictures yet but it is pretty crazy w/ flame and bird's eye.
I usually got like necks that figured but it fit well w/ this guitar.
I am not totally happy w/ the pickup covers, or the switch tip. I would love to do them like the knobs, which were clear and I lightly tinted them from the bottom.
I am really pleased w/ the pickguard, notice how I got the pattern to match the body.
Here are the rest of the pictures http://www.curtisnovak.com/guitars/replitar-SOR-06-37

That is just awesome.
I've always wanted to see a paisley in shoreline gold, too...maybe with green and gold highlights of some sort.
Are you going to offer these finishes up to those in need at some point??? I'd definitely go for a nice paisley with matching headstock!

A 1.75 lb body? Wow-that's like BALSA wood light! Awesome finish!

Awesome work Curtis. Truly. It's so light, sure it isn't "chromite" lol.

Re: One of my latest
I contacted Crook Guitars a couple of months ago to see if it would be possible to source out a paisley paper to do a Paisley JM.
They wouldn't sell anything, let alone discuss it. I love what you've done there, Curt!

I LOVE that. Totally gorgeous.
If anyone does find a source for Fender-type Paisley, let us know about it.

That's a pretty fantastic looking guitar. You know what else would be cool (but completely over the top)? To put some sort of distortion circuit with an LED so you can engage the effect and have the bulb underneath those clear knobs distorting in rhythm with the music so they light up and make the knobs glow as the effect is being driven harder. I know I know - it's not practicle, but it's a neat "far out" idea....

Re: One of my latest
Thanks all for the kind words... I am real pleased w/ how it turned out. I have made a Tele just like it, and this one here http://www.curtisnovak.com/guitars/replitar-1105-25/ w/ a different style paper and paint color these are WAY metallic, but sadly my camera does not catch that. Yeah the bodies are that light, they are Swamp Ash. I am in the process of making a Jazzmaster that I am having patterned off my 63. The really cool thing here is these bodies are very resonant. My bench top tuner can tune these unplugged.
Yeah I spoke to those people w/ the paisley paper and rightly so they are keeping a tight hold on it, I know they spent MUCH effort to acquire it... give it time it will come out.
