Thanks again, guys. It's very humbling to have such positive feedback on it.

Not 100% sure I'd recommend it...it left the higher regions a little too broad for my liking. Hard to say if the risk of serious injury to fingers and maple was quite worth the result. I have a different jig I want to build for future ones that's a bit more controlled.

Wish I could have got some sound clips. There may be an opportunity at a later date, but the SG-3 will certainly be able to make itself heard here.

I thought I was done lusting after any new guitars, especially custom-built guitars as I have a few-- but then this guitar comes along and makes me feel all funny. :?

No tears here, but this sentiment sums up my feelings. A truly stunning instrument.

I'm so inspired by this thread, I went to the closet and dug out my project, I've had this many years with the thought of putting it back together, but I know I will never finish it..

but here are a couple pictures, it's a 1966 from what I was told..

Seriously? Right after he posted I was typing saying I'd take it, but thought, nah that won't work. :fp: :D

He posted it for sale at surfguitar101.com, which I checked after seeing pat's sg-3 for sale. Somehow these guitars always come in waves.

And here I was just watching THIS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGL83SWvIeI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and saying to myself, "What kind of guitar is that?! It looks and sounds wonderful!"

Superb work. Maybe Paul should just hire you to make these constantly.

Just remember that Link Wray could make ANYTHING sound wonderful.

I know this is an old thread, but I just got a beaten up SG-3 that has a lot of missing and damaged parts, and Yamaha replacements are near impossible to find. Is there any chance you could upload your files for the fabricated pieces, and links to places to get them made? Specifically, the trem plate, bridge, neck plate, pickup covers, and pickguard. It would be a great help.

If any of them have already been posted in this thread, I apologize. It's quite long, and I may have missed it.

Alternatively, a suggestion for a different tremolo that would cover the existing route would be good too.

Not sure how I haven't see this thread before because I'm a huge Yamaha SG-3/2 nerd. But just wanted to say this guitar looks incredible and whoever got it is very lucky. You have inspired me to get back into building. superb
