Kwyjibo, if you build one, start a thread on it. These are beautiful guitars. That would be a fun thread to follow.

If you build one, build ten more - I don't know why this great design hasn't been reissued. For a fair price, It I'd buy one...

I forgot to post these at the time, but last summer I took some more pics of this guitar. Some serious checking starting to happen on the back - the finish there was thicker where I'd struggled with rattlecans to get it even. Still set-up perfectly after 4 years! And I was shocked at how good it sounds. I finished it the day I delivered it, so I never had time to really get to know it, which was a real shame. Those Jag P90s are perfect for it.

How much difference is there between these p90's and the originals?
I have the sg2c that i posted earlier without pickups. I'm a bit in doubt if I should throw in a set of sg3c pickups from a trash sg3c or reuse the pickguard and throw in new pickups.

Btw, what are those knobs? They look good.

I haven't had chance for a like-for-like comparison, but the Jag P90s seem much fuller and stronger, though without sacrificing any clarity.

The knobs are the same as those used on a Shergold Modulator - I can't remember how I found them, whether they were ebay or from an electronics supplier...

Re: Yamaha SG-3 & SG-2 replica project builds - SG-2 finishe

This is for all of you who admired TheWorkOfFire's workmanship in creating Yamaha SG-2 and SG-3 replicas many years ago. I, as many others, were (and are) disappointed that his photos disappeared from his build threads (thanks PhotoBucket) , leaving the documentation bereft of many a "thousand words".

As I am restoring an SG-2, I have been looking for information on the OSG forum that could be useful, and Ben's threads certainly fall into that category.

I decided to scour the wayback machine and to my surprise found all the photos for page 15 of this thread. I downloaded them and put them on my website and then edited the links in this post... So here you go, Ben's SG-2 replica in its full glory!

PS- I have contacted Ben and asked for his permission but he hasn't been active on this forum for a long time. I am sure he wouldn't mind us all being able to admire his SG-2 replica again. That is at least until my website goes down ;D
