The all black is classy, the dark green is pretty too . . . still with a black guard?

Yeah, still using the matte black guard, I think it'll work well. I really liked the black, but one can't have too many green guitars I guess.

I really wish you had followed through with the first one. That black-black-black was very cool. I feel like cutting the tru-oil back to matte with some high-grade steel wool would have brought the tru-oil-protected look back to more of the original dye/stain only feel.
Curious to see how the new tact turns out too though.

put a little citrus oil to protect it for the futur steps (i dislike to have mapple or metal dust in the open pores of rosewood or cyano trace cause my hand is contaminated ,is less easy to clean up with )

I liked the black on black, but I LOVE that dark green stain. Excited to see where this one ends up.

Tribi9, that's really cool. Is it a kit or are you good enough to make one from scratch?

Believe me, no one is as disappointed as I am. It just wasn't going to turn out how I wanted it. Oh well. I have plenty of dye and stain left and I always want one more guitar. It's just a matter of time before I try again.

I know I've seen it on a guitar somewhere . . . the problem saw there was the splitting of the end grain.

Thank you for the lead. I am familiar with that method. It would expect it to work really well with ash. I may experiment with that in the future, when I get some scraps of ash.

After trying to plan out a lumber and/or shop cart for over a year, and finding major inspiration here, I decided to build something. I basically built almost the same cart as Bob did, with a few minor variations. I LOVE the idea of having a shop cart that requires very little commitment.

The problem I had with all my original designs is that it wasn't perfect. I'd draw something and like it, and then want to change it. That's fine, but I figured that if I ever made one, even if I did think it was the perfect design for me, I'd want to change something soon after anywho. The beauty of the French cleat system is that it can be changed in seconds as nothing is screwed down, but just hanging by gravity.

Image
I made mine 48" long, 24" deep, and just under 60" tall, a-frame shaped, and with the "front" having French cleats all the way up, separated by a 2" gap between them. I have my clamps hanging by gravity on the "back", but I only put two 2x4's up on the back since I don't yet have that many clamps. Might make a shelf towards the bottom.

Image
Tonight I made my first cleated box: storage for my cordless drill batteries and the two types of chargers they use. Technically they can all be charged on the same chargers, but the newer batteries are 2A batteries, and charge better on the newer ones, whereas my older ones charge better on the older chargers, so I put two of each on there.
