Does anywhere make a JM neck with Binding?

Post by Amber » Fri May 18, 2007 8:06 am

There's warmoth but I believe it's 22 frets and not vintage spec.

Musikraft have told me they are not doing ANY JM stuff right now.

USACG need to be sanded down but Tommy said there's a huge upcharge for binding as they aren't setup for it.

I'd love a dots and binding neck. Maybe there's someone I don't know about who makes them?

http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/neck ... nished.htm

guitar parts resource has a 21 fret strat neck, dots and binding. at the bottom of the page. you'd need to finish it yourself, though.

I want a JM sized headstock or bigger.

i'm pretty sure that warmoth will do 21 frets, but it's $110 extra for binding. and it's compound radius.
you could probably get a local luthier to bind a neck you already have. it'd probably be ridiculously expensive, though.

the "pro" necks (which are the only necks that can come with binding) only come with 22 frets. you can get rid of the compound radius for an extra $35, but the smallest radius the will do is 9".

i think the best option today is to get a bound allparts neck and add some wood yourself. jazzprod did this on his LPB jm and it looks really great. you're almost forced to go with a matching headstock if you go this route though, unless you manage to match the wood grain of the added piece to the headstock really well.

The problem is I'm left handed and the bound neck is only righty. I think my best bet would be to get a normal JM neck and pay to have it bound.
