It's ready for some clear nitro next. They're predicting 43% relative humidity tomorrow...

The humidity was lower today...

Here's my "booth" setup:

After 3 light clear coats:

We'll see how the weather holds up. Next step should be the burst.

I think you should just put some clear on and leave it as-is, it looks fantastic.

Today I did a little wet sanding to flatten it out and shot a light clear coat.

Then I masked the front and back of the body and shot the sides and headstock black.

After I took the mask off there were two little spots where the black stuck some paper on so I had to stop and wait until to tomorrow to knock them off and do the burst.

I did a little modding on a new overdrive I'm designing. Here's how it's looking so far:

Then I shot my sunburst. I did a black burst first but went a little too far in. I cleaned it up with some 400 grit sandpaper wet down with naptha. Then I reshot the black. I still felt I had too much on the neck so I sanded it back again just on the neck and headstock. Then I shot the dark walnut. I was blown away by how this looks. I need more dark walnut but I got a run and had to stop.

I ordered another colour, translucent light walnut. I think that'll help get the look I want.

I also oversprayed the heel a little, I'll fix that later.

Here you can see I haven't blended the brown into the sanded black on the headstock. I actually think this looks incredible:

>:(

It's raining... hopefully the humidity burns off by Saturday afternoon so I can finish the colours then get onto the clear coats and call this thing done!

I scraped the headstock inlay...

I finished up the colour today. I'm really happy with it. It's nice and subdued in natural light and then pops like crazy under the camera flash or sunlight.

After I finished the 2 tone burst with black and dark walnut mohawk nitro I hit it with some light walnut/colonial maple mohawk nitro. That really did it for me. I love it.

Okay, I've procured 2 more cans of clear. After putting over a can of clear on, it doesn't look thick enough to me. The humidity probably won't be low enough until Thursday... >:(

I don't enjoy cutting plastic so I roughed out all the pieces and will try to finish them off one at a time.

Here's how the truss rod cover turned out. I like it:
