Last Q hopefully: What is the nut width of a vintage fender starcaster?

Post by kanihoncho » Fri Aug 17, 2007 4:11 am

I have templates for most existing fender necks at my disposal and i'm trying to correlate my tech drawing of starcaster headstock onto an existing neck if possible and save myself some work. Many thanks.

I'm new to this forum, if i can post a pic or two i will.

I have to ask, what are you basing your templates on?

hmmm...

i don't know for sure, but i'd be surprised if it wasn't 1 5/8", which was fender's "medium" neck width throughout the 60s, and was the standard on most of their 50s guitars.

I think it's the standard B width, which is 1 5/8" as brunning says.

I took pencil rubbings off my Starcaster last time I saw it back in January. They're lying around somewhere in my study waiting to be converted into templates, so if I can find them I'll measure the nut width to be sure.
