CIJ mustang control plate Q

Post by Stratelejazzuar » Fri Aug 24, 2007 2:18 pm

Prolly a silly question... Are the holes in a CIJ mustang control plate too small for standard american/fender pot shafts?

I'm gonna pimp out my lil bro's CIJ comp-stang...  :D  8)

yes!

Also, use ALPHA pots, there high quality and cheaper than the ones fender sell (CTS) and are just as reliable. (its almost impossible to have a bad pot)

But bo,Not if you put a drill thru it it isnt!

Drill it,don't buy a new one like some idiots do when the holes already there, just enlarge it....simple.

Awesome! thanks for the info.

And don't worry, i'd drill to enlarge, rather than spend an extra $10 on an "american sized" control plate.

I'd use alpha pots, but I think the control plate is going to have a 3-way toggle, master vol, and TBX tone. So there's at least one hole I have to enlarge... maybe 2 if the toggle doesn't fit (whish it probably won't, heh)

I think once this mod proj gets going, i'l do the whole "post the process" thing... stay tuned! :D

Yeah and another strange problem you might have ran into with the american vs japanese control plate is the placeing of the screws, I found that out the hard way on a vintage 65 I accidentially ordered a japanese as a replacement and it was way off for the screw holes not to mention the pot holes., if you're going to be rewiring the whole thing though I might suggest just buying a Mustang kit from a place like guitar parts resource, they give you all the right pots etc and its like $25 well worth it considering its all switchcraft parts and CTS pots.
