Raise UR Hand if You're Doing a Jag Project....

Post by fullerplast » Sat Oct 06, 2007 4:06 pm

There seems to be several.... let's get a count going. It doesn't matter if if it's vintage, MIJ/CIJ, homemade, aftermarket, partsmaster... whatever. If you're building or restoring a Jaguar, count it here.

State what it is, and what it will be:

1.  1964 Sunburst (stripped and stained)...  will be Oly White

2.   Tentatively I'm building "My Dream Jaguar".  Which will be Burgundy Mist Metallic with a matching headstock and likely a Wide Range Humbucker in the bridge position.  All the parts will be American-made genuine Fender, not particularly vintage or AVRI, or made by me.

5. Matching up my '66 blocks/binding neck with a Warmoth body, going for the black w/ matching headstock (and parchment pickguard) look. Likely using non-Jag pickups, still undecided on what will go in there. My pickguard (also from Warmoth) was cut without pickup cutouts so I can wait until the last minute.

8. My jag projects is a very slowly progressing ongoing saga. I have an E-series MIJ jag, and at least theoretically I'm building an early-to-mid 60s partsguar. I have been slowly collecting parts for years; everything I buy goes on the MIJ, and the parts I replace go in a parts bin (well, in reality they're scattered all over my place). I have reached the point where really all I need is a 60s body and a great number of screws and bolts. With prices for vintage bodies as they are, plus the fact that I really don't need a second jag, the project may never be finished. But you never know.

9. I'm doing a '65 ex-sunburst Jag. It's stripped and that's it. I have most all the original parts. I have some new foam strips and some cloth covered wire ordered. I have misplaced a few things, but I know they are around somewhere. I hope they'll turn up sooner instead of later.

I wish I could go with the original 3-color sunburst, but because of some wood filler that will probably not be possible. I will most likely go with Olympic White. I haven't decided whether or not to use aged nitro or not. I've been trying to get through to the ReRanch all week to order some supplies. I'm in no hurry to finish the project though..... this is going to be a slow process. Patience......................

10. Just an Upgrade project but still....

I bought this CIJ Jag earlier this summer and inbetween my jazzblaster project and my "making a 65 RI JM of a MIJ 62 RI JM"-project i DO make some progress with the tended uppgrading - I've taken out the JB Jr's and taken off the buzz stop. Installed the original MIJ jag pups (in the meantime before i can afford a couple of better pups) - slowly collecting parts....
Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

11.

I've got a 1969 neck (i think?) and an AVRI body on the way, so i guess that counts as a project.
