Conversion bushings won't work - Suggestions?
I've reached a stumbling block in one of my projects. My Jagmaster has those crappy Chinese sealed tuners and I wanted to put Gotoh Kluson-style tuners (from a CIJ JM) on there, but the spacing is diferent. I have the conversion bushings so that the holes are the right size, but I end up with space between each tuner and the screws aren't big enough to hold them on.
Anybody have any ideas? I'd like to go with Kluson-style tuners because of the lighter weight, but I'm afraid I'd have to plug and re-drill. Not the end of the world obviously, but still something I'd like to avoid. Other tuners maybe? Something similar to the Chinese cheapies but better looking?

I've had the same problem on my Jazblaster project
the neck comes from a Squier Strat.
to fix that, I've made some small washers from alloy.
It's not very neat, but it works fine.

What's the hole spacing distance?

for me, it was less than 2mm between two keys.

no - I mean what's the distance from the centre of one tuner hole to the centre of the next? If that's 2mm then no-one can help you!
One (potentially very ugly) way of doing it with the tuners you have now would be to use a tiny donut of 2-3mm brass tubing from a model shop to widen the shank of the retaining screw, and use a screw with a wider head or even find small washers to go under the head.

try the modern fender tuners, they dont touch one another so theyl fit probably, they look decent.

I must say that the first set of tuners I bought for the Messblaster, the wilkinson ones, fit perfectly.. which is quite strange.. it means the Fender tuners are shorter..
