Dust

Post by Regan » Tue Nov 06, 2007 1:06 pm

I do not have a proper place to paint. I am using a garage and I am having some problems with dust. I have been spraying Fullerplast and each time some dust settles in. The garage is relativly clean, but the dust is still there.

How do you guys handle this problem? I would appreciate any tips or advice very much. Right now, I don't worry so much, but as I get closer to the clear coat phase I can foresee trouble on the horizon.

Thanks.

Regan

Make a little tent out of a plastic sheet? That would be your cheapest solution probably.

Is it a wardrobe? I use one I got from Target for $20. After about ten guitars it needs to be beaten, like any of us. Then it prodcues dust of its own. But I use it like a moving umbrella sort of shroud. I stick the guitar halfway in on a bike rack and them move the wardrobe with the wind or as I need to spray.
What's he building in there?

Thanks guys. That looks like a possible solution. If I can't find one large enough I may just try to stretch some plastic like Kismet suggested.

How about one of these?

Sorry, I know that's not helpful...

(That's actually a paint booth at the Auto body repair company my father owns...)

I got the hookup if I ever want to do a refin.  Unfortunately, I don't know if they'd want me using laqcuer in there.
Damn kids, get off my lawn!

the plastic tent is a good idea (if you have the space for it).

so many specs of dust turned up in my white refin. i guess i'm not really surprised, but it would be nice to get it perfect  :-\

anyway, i've often seen dust in old fender factory finishes, so i'm not really sweating it.

I got some dust in the Fullerplast too. No problem to sand out at this step, but the color coat and the clear is what is worrying me.
