Custom Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird

A forum bud posted a link to some ebay auctions with this guy doing Jupiter Thunderbird style bodies made for bolt on necks. I love me some bolt on goodness and had a nice neck sitting around, so I messaged the guy about building me a body. His had tele neck pockets on ebay and I wanted a strat one with humbucker routs so he went ahead and put one together for me. It is alder. Because it didn't have the bridge holes drilled, I was nervous and decided I would just pick up a Rik style bridge. That way I can intonate it, mark where the bridge is and drill the plate in the best location for the guitar. I also have a trapeze tailpiece on the way. I was so excited to get it today that it is already stained.

BTW the Allparts neck fit the pocket perfectly. I was surprised because I thought I would need to do some sanding.

I have an old beat up coffee table this color stain makes me think of. Nice and worn in like an old shoe.

Cool! It should be fun. I have most of the things I need aside from pots, pickup rings, a toggle, and knobs. (The cheap stuff.) Just need the stain to dry so I can seal it. Then I might spray it with a clear coat just to make sure it is nice and protected.

Put this together for my headstock. Not sure if gold or silver would be better.

Thanks! A bigsby would be fun, but I already ordered a trapeze. Maybe if I like it enough I will do a different one with a tremolo.

You should try linking the J and D ascenders, maybe with an arch and then a bigger J where the loop extends to be your underscore and lose the pinstriping. Your capital B's in Billy Bo would look better without the extended shoulder dropping over to the I O too.

Last night I used zpoxy on the front. Tonight I will do a coat on the back. It really warmed up the color.
