You sanded the headstock down perfect. Any secret to how you did it so well? Also where was the decal from?

The chrome/black/green looks great too.
Thank you  :)

No secret with the headstock, just lots of work. First off, I traced the headstock of my '62 Jazzmaster as closely as I could. It actually sounds easier than it actually was because I did it while it was all together and strung up. After that though, I just traced it onto the Allparts LRO and rough cut it into shape using a Jigsaw (I don't have a band saw or coping saw  :( ). I used a blade which was intended for steel too  :) The teeth are nice and close togetherwhich kept the splintering down. After that, I used a small pneumatic grinder to shape it more closely. The I went to block sanding it with some 220 grit paper. It took a while, but I think it looks pretty good.

I sourced the decal from Jim Shine. I think he ahs since unloaded all of his supply though. Every now and then a few come up on eBay though.

So how does your neck fit?  My neck is 2 3/16 but there's a mote around the thing when I set it in the pocket of the CIJ body I bought.

It doesn't fit as tightly as a normal MIJ neck would with the stock MIJ body. Maybe because I have a SUPER thin laquer finish on it instead of thick poly? It fits the side pretty snugly though. The biggest gap is right at the butt end, and a lot of it is because I needed to round the corner of the guard more, right in the corner of the pocket. I didn't notice it though until I already had everything together. It isn't bad at all and I have as much sustain as a stock JM the way it is, so I'm not worried about it.

I'm a bit scared/intimidated by that wall of amps.
I'd be affraid to play a big muff through it!

That has turned out very nicely .. you got it finished pretty quickly too.

I've always loved your wall of amps .. but isn't there a blonde Bandmaster missing? Your band must be louder than loud.

Thank you!

Yeah, I have a blonde '64 Bandmaster and a '65 reverb unit next to the big 2x15 cab/ Vox stack. No band to speak of at the moment, unfortunately  :(  I had a decent thing going a couple years ago, but then my friend moved away and I haven't come up with anything else since. I haven't really had much free time at all for the last year and a half or so either  :(

Thanks!

Maelstrom of sound...  I quite like the sound of that  :P  My music room is pretty small, so I amusually only acouple feet from them which roughly translates to..  master volume = my best friend  :)

So I guess you can infer that I like fuzzy preamp gain a lot :)

Justin, that's really really nice (both the jazzblaster AND the wall of amps) - I want one!

It feels a lot like my '64s neck. I rounded the shoulders a decent bit and I sanded through the finish on the back right at the treble edge, where they usually begin to wear first. So, finishwise, it pretty much feels like an old one. My '62 has a really thick neck and fatigues my hand after a couple hours of playing. The next thinnest seems to be the '64. It is more of a chunky C shape with a good bit of wood on either side. The '66 Has about the same thickness, but it is thinner at the edges I think. It's kind of hard to compare it to the others though because the binding changes the feel so much.
