USACG.
warmoth´s JM stuff are not very accurate, they even say so themselves.

but if i was to build a JM from parts, i´d go with Allparts. This Body is only meant to fit our Warmoth Jazzmaster® Pickguards.
It is not intended to retrofit to your guitar.

Re: Would i be better off..
I have a brand new Allparts body in alder with the tag still atatched . It looks really nice and has some nice grain too. It has original style routes, which look really accurate. I don't need it right now though, as Ibought an older MIJ body for my current project. I have this one forsale in the sale section. If you decide to go Allparts, let me know. The cheapest I could find them for was $230. I can go a good bit lower to unload this one.

I also have an allparts JM body (ash). The Fender AV control cavity tub fit right in snugly. The tail fits nice too, and the pickguard looks fine on it. It looks really good to me, and less $$$ than the others.

Re: Would i be better off..
Whoever makes the decisions at Allparts probably believes all the hype about how bad the stock bridge is... and decided to offer a choice by not pre-drilling the holes. This is just speculation on my part. Rightly or wrongly, the bridge is quite controversial.
However, it would not be the least bit difficult. The pickguard has the holes in it. All you would have to do is temp install the guard, then mark the holes. Remember, the bridge sits in oversize cups and floats back and forth. There wouldn't be a worry about intonation, etc. if it was a wee bit off. Just drill two holes and press in the thimbles. It would help to mark the centerline of the guard and the body and line them up prior to tracing the two holes.
How many pieces? I think two, but I haven't examined it... They did an outstanding job matching up the grain. It's very light too!

Re: Would i be better off..
would the american fender pick-guard fit an allparts body, or would it be best to go with the allparts p/g?

Re: Would i be better off..
Of course!
There are no pre-drilled holes (except for neck) ... just place them as appropriate to your application!
Good luck and POST PICS of your project! :?
P.S. The Allparts guard is most likely the same as MIJ. Assume all the aftermarket guards to be import... unless they specify otherwise!

Re: Would i be better off..
I remember a topic on FDP about the USACG not having the right contours.
I'm probably going to get a lefty JM body and CBS Neck from USACG as I'm not too bothered about it being perfect. USACG seem to have better customer service from what I've read in the past. Probably because they are a small company.

Re: Would i be better off..
i bought an allparts p/g for my 90's mij jag, and the fit was off. i used a file to shape it, and it ended up being ok, but not perfect. The quality was great though.
Once i get the ball rolling on my jazzmaster project i will most definetly be photo documenting.

if i´m not mistaken, allparts´ JM and jag stuff are based on the MIA versions, so they would have some compatibility problems with MIJ/CIJ.donnyII wrote: i bought an allparts p/g for my 90's mij jag, and the fit was off. i used a file to shape it, and it ended up being ok, but not perfect. Re: Would i be better off..
Yeah, an MIA guard lines up right, but a Japanese one has the space between the heel and the neck PU a little off. If I were building a JM with stock parts, I would try to go with an AV RI guard just to save time and hassle and avoid potentially losing money on ill fitting parts. It wouldn't be too much work though to reshape the heel area on a Japanese guard though. Everything else looks like it will line up just fine. I'm becoming more and more tempted to hold onto the Allparts body I have.mynameisjonas wrote:
