I would not want the marr switching and wiring on my jag, I like the original wiring; only mod I have done is adding a 3 way switch whilst keeping the strangle switch....much more easier to switch through the different positions -especially in live situations - and quite an easy mod... using one of the rhoney (now strider) plates

A KC plate and 3 way switch sounds like the way to go. Too bad they didn't make a 4 way toggle.

and btw: there is no need to get a chrome control plate immediately, just get a small piece of (black?) pickguard material and cut / drill your own custom plate (use the stock plate as a rough template)...

The cavity isn't quite deep enough for the switch and the tags are shorting on the shielding. Just built one myself, measured the clearances before I started, bent the tags back, put insulating tape across the bottom of the route, just in case... no problems.gutter rock wrote:I was the OP in the first link (the diary thread!). I am glad I got mine sorted but WILL NEVER attempt it again. I figured it out but would never remember exactly how I did it. The strangest part was the last problem where I would lose series position when I screwed down the top plate. I had to make sure the top chrome plate didn't touch the shielding tape I put in. This is beyond weird to me because the fender diagram has all plates grounded to each other. I still don't understand what happened but it works and the cavities of that guitar will never again see the light of day. If you can live with the traditional jag switches I would just do the normal series mod on those.

Amen. I got the same Strider plate, and it's pretty rad.PJazzmaster wrote:I like the original wiring; only mod I have done is adding a 3 way switch whilst keeping the strangle switch....much more easier to switch through the different positions -especially in live situations - and quite an easy mod... using one of the rhoney (now strider) plates
I also disconnected the rhythm circuit, and I would have replaced that with a flat upper bout plate, but I've gotten used to keeping an extra pick in one of those pot slots.

Heya all! back after five years of absence!
Never actually replied if it worked out or not.
Well good news is: IT DID WORK OUT.
I managed to get the switch in there, without any changes to the body. Instead what the luthier and I did, was to grind the switch down a bit in order to make it fit. Need to look after some photos.
I managed to find someone here in Switzerland to make the plates and they are a perfect fit.
The guitar has since travelled a lot with me, and it's got a decent amount of marks from it haha (it even was LITERALLY on fire once, for a sec or two, which resulted in a discolouration of the once so beautiful ice blue metallic)
Here is a pretty recent picture of the same guitar that I posted in the beginning!
