Tiny update:
Finally got the Jag bass' action adjusted (bridge saddles needed to be raised and radius matched to neck (straight 10")). Intonation was surprisingly perfect as is (Hipshot...). I decided while playing a bit that the brown has REALLY grown on me. I'm keeping the brown grain, i.e. no paint, but I will hit the body with a clearcoat of Polyurethane. Not sure about the headstock, but I'm putting a decal there, so it'll probably need a clearcoat as well, but I may paint the head. Probably not though.

As soon as the weather gets a little nicer, I'm going to start building my guitar stand/rack 2.0 which will be great.

Also have a little pickup routing clean-up to do on the humbucker guitar/offset Tele/POST to get the pickups to sit in their cavities a little better.

I'm finally getting back around to working on my Strazz project. After I decided how I'm finally going to do the wiring a few weeks ago, I've been thinking about it a bit. For those who may not remember (it's been awhile, I know), here's what the Strazz looks like with my Warmoth CBS Strat neck:
Image

It's going to be painted a medium red like the old Yamaha SG3's. The controls are on two different chrome plates, a la Fender Jaguar. I've got one of the Faction plates for 2 DP3T Mustang slider switches.

Anywho!

I was thinking today that I'm gonna continue the red trend (with mint guard by the way), and use red knobs and red Switchcraft slider switches:

More to come soon!!

Looks great! Love the red switches.
How are the switches gonna work?

Thanks!! I thought I posted it here, but I didn't.

Using two Mustang-type 3-way slider switches (one to switch between middle/middle+neck/neck pickups, the other to switch between bridge/bridge+neck/neck positions), I have a way to have all 3 pickups on their own, all 3 together, and all the in-between Strat positions. Standard volume and tone.

That guitar is going to be sick. Is it full scale? Oddly enough, I just made a pickguard like that for my jaguar.

Thanks man!!

It is full-scale (25.5")! I wanted a Strat but am not a huge Strat body fan. Have any pictures of yours?

So the Endangered Audio Research AD4096 has always been one of the coolest looking pedals to me. I love old Sci-Fi, and it just looks the part.

In was perusing Reverb the other day looking for knobs for the Strazz and found out that Endangered Audio finally released their custom knobs for sale. So, I picked up 2 of these for the Strazz:

I wasn't meaning to make the Strazz look science fiction-y, but dammit if that won't look sharp as hell.

Very cool knobs! I'd think they were a bit much if they were straight on a pickguard, but with the control plate for separation (and mirroring the red slider switches on the other plate) I think this will look amazing!

Thanks Dan! Me too! I was looking for something different for knobs, once I'd decided to not use concentric pots (or use my original wiring diagram with the middle pickup on it's own pot a la Nashville Tele). I was looking at the Q-Parts UFO knobs (chrome), and think they're cool as hell, but a bit more ostentatious than I really want. When I found these, I ordered 5 immediately (2 red for the Strazz and 3 white for my Bass VI project maybe).

I'm hoping to finally get around to getting that last bit of paint stripped off the body this weekend, and strip the head face in the next week or two. The weather around here is really all over the place, but it's been slowly warming up, so I'm hoping I'll be able to start painting pretty soon. I'm gonna let the paint dry and cure for a month or two I think, just for the hell of it. Now, I just need to find some HVLP spray gun basics (book or YouTube). Haha.

My knobs arrived! Still have to finish stripping the lingering red paint from the last time I attempted to paint it, but damn, these look friggin' cool!!

Finally going to be getting around to working on the Bass VI in a few weeks hopefully! Just need to get the garage a bit more organized first :D

So here's the inspiration so far:
Image
My crappy A:I mock-up (colors not quite right)

I decided on a P-90 in the bridge, and a single coil in the middle and neck positions. The P-90 will be mounted straight to the body, off the pickguard, and the single coils will be mounted to the guard. I found these epic covers from Decoboom:
Image
...and after speaking with Andrew, I'm gonna order one in nickel and one in chrome (without the inserts, just the rings) tomorrow (pay day!). Unless I can't get in contact with him, I'm planning on ordering a set of Sentell pickups for this, with all pickups having a clear polycarbonate top that he offers on some of his pickups, like this:
Image[/img]

For color, I was REALLY inspired by Rexter's Firemist, as seen here on the JM in the back right:
Image

I'd like an anodized guard, possibly in the clear anodized like Gdayj offers. I have a hardtail JM/Jag trem-shaped plate already. I have a chrome control plate as well, but I'm considering making the controls mounted to the guard, for the classic Duo-Sonic look.

I've got a 10' long, 10" wide chunk of Ash that's dying to be used, which is where I think I'm gonna start 8)

I've been talking to Jerry (and Christine!) from Sentell pickups and this pickup set is a go!

I ordered a couple open Telecaster neck covers to go with the open P-90 ring/cover that I already ordered (as shown above) and the entire set (P-90 bridge, Tele middle and neck) will be a chrome/nickel ring around a clear-topped pickup.

Two of these:

like this:

And one of these:

like this:

This is gonna rock.

I've been wondering how these clear top P90 would look under an open chrome cover, so I'll follow this closely. ;D

I'll definitely post pictures! The cool thing is, since I bought the chrome/nickel rings separately, and am sending them to Jerry Sentell, I know everything will fit. I'm hoping he won't have to, but at least he'll have the P-90 ring if he needs to shave a bit off the polycarbonate top to make it fit. I have this feeling it's gonna look really fucking cool.
