Are you sure this body is a Hosco, because at emmamusic they show jm and jg body pictures with pre-drilled vibrato mounting screw holes... i was interested of those body but they are too expensive for my budget.

Yeah, I mean, they could be labelled under other brand names but after a quick google search, I found this one.
https://reverb.com/au/item/37583260-hos ... iece-alder

Some have the tremolo drilled, others don't.

They sell them at northwest guitars. Looks like they have a sale on.

If anyone is thinking of getting one of these Hosco Jaguar bodies that are popping up on Ebay etc, there's a few things to consider.
They are not at all "vintage correct" I knew this before I bought it, so no biggy for me.
It will NOT fit a USA, MIM, Squier pickguard.

I have ordered a MIJ/CIJ style pickguard hoping one of those will fit it. I have the feeling it won't either. So I am now considering cutting my own.

The body itself is Jazzmaster shaped, Not Jaguar. So the upper horn is rounder like on Jazzmasters.
So they've basically taken the Jazzmaster body and routed it for Jaguar parts.

Other than these issues, it's beautifully made, perfect finish. excellent quality.

I‘ve seen one recently:
Could this be the same?

No mentioning of „Hosco“ - but „Squier“ and „made in china“.
Their description is off too: it says 21(!) medium junbo frets 628mm scale.

The colour looks perfect though… but I‘m not gambling…so thanks for the heads-up! I have a fine Tort guard waiting.

Yep, that's identical to the one I bought.

I cut the pickguard out today.
I had some leftover tort. It's not the prettiest tort but suits the vibe. I may cut another one in a more reddish colour eventually.
I'm pretty happy with the fit. I reckon I nailed it!

Looks pretty damn good. A 3-ply black would be a nice option too.

You know... If the body didn't come to me already drilled for pickguard holes I might be asking if you'd accept money in exchange for such a pickguard for mine. LOL

I'm happy to cut a pickguard for anyone wanting one of these for their irregular-shaped Jag bodies.

Awesome work, Pat. I agree that on it's own, that tort is a bit orange / brown, but it works great with that body and neck combo. Also, the shape you ended with is really good. I think I'd have a hard time telling how that's not a normal Jag without knowing better from your earlier posts.

Thanks for pointing out the neck! What do you think of it, Pat? Ironically, I have mine on my Hosco body, too, and I love it! It did need some nut work and had one high fret, but that's all fixed, now.

I haven't played this one yet. But I have a maple fretboard one on another project which I have played, and it's very nice. I Haven't had to do any fretwork on it. I did file the nut right down, but that's to be expected. I Haven't even had to tweak the truss rod yet either.

As far as quality goes, I'm very impressed by these necks. If I were to get fussy with it, I'd tidy up the headstock shape, refinish it and refret it with vintage narrow/tall frets.

I was fussy about the headstock shape then some pics of some actual '60s Jags came up in a search with a headstock pretty close to it. I also love how chunky the neck feels while still fitting very comfortably in my hand.
