This is a Strat-ish thing I am digging at the moment.

Daion branded Strat, Japanese made by Yamaki in the late 70s. Check the goofy headstock.
I swapped this plus some cash for a Classic Vibe Tele that I liked but wasn't playing. Lots to do here.

I had the Tele to start, then switched it for the Strat plus some cash. Not sure if I did right but I have several Teles and that wasn’t being played.

It’s a bit more blue in real life. Old lake placid. I’ve been obsessed with a 60s tele custom in the same colour that is as stupidly priced is it is beautiful. This was a weak moment of stress as I’d never seen an ST62 in a colour like it. Turns out this has a skinny neck & pickups that I really like. I might have finally found THE Strat after searching for years
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

I played one at a local shop yesterday, and proceeded to order a 2022 from Reverb after a few drinks last night! It will arrive next week, when I’m out of town for work.MKR wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 9:11 amThat's what i currently have. I have owned a lot of stratocasters over the years. older MIM's, japanese fender, squier classic vibe, old korean squier, etc.
I'd say the player series are pretty great. I have always liked mexican made stratocasters. The biggest difference between the player series and the older ones is the pickups are "brighter" on the player series ones. They're probably labeled as "better", but i always liked the ceramic pickups found on the older versions. These are almost too bright for my liking, so i use the tone control more that i used to. I will say it's nice to have a tone control on the bridge pickup too.
I really like that cream one too. I would so put a gold anodized pickguard on it.

I played that 70th anniversary player Strat with the black sparkle finish. It’s pretty sweet! I almost got one. But tbh I really like the APII and that will be my next Strat. I like the ‘deep c’ neck profile and the ‘tall vintage frets’. They’re a little wider than 6105s. I really like them.

The Player Strat arrived today. Aside from some minor adjustments that I’ll have to make, it’s perfect.

Re: Stratocaster appreciation thread
Me and my buddy had a little facebook argument about usability of strat's middle pickup, so I recorded a quick jam utilizing mostly middle pickup of my '66 partscaster.
I used a recently purchased Neural DSP Morgan suite plugin and I am utterly amazed how it sounds straight outta the box, first preset and anything. Miles ahead of all the plugins I used to use in the past.
