Re: Reccomend electric 12's please...
Agreed that the Jones stuff is a bit better than the 90s Danos. I was kind of pumped when they came out, but they had that "cheesy" feel to them. The Jones pickups are better for sure. Didn't see the Dano12 below. The ones I saw were a little TOO funky and I haven't checked them out in about ten years. I prefer set neck 12s though. If I could find a Rick I liked, the neck thru would work too.

Re: Reccomend electric 12's please...
I love playing 12s I stated out with a Yamaha $tratlike 12 thingie but upgraded to a JetGlo Ric 330/12 which I played a few years. I liked the Ric's sound (with a compressor) and it wasn't all that hard to play or keep in tune but I found the neck a bit cumbersome. I sold it last year.
My current favourite is an Epiphone Elitist Riviera 12. IMO it plays much easier than a Ric, sounds similar on the bridge pickup but has a wider and more usable neck and combined pu tone. I also feel less need for a compressor, the miniHB's are really well suited for the 12 string sound. It's a great instrument like it's six string brother which I also play a lot. I don't think they are made anymore. They never really caught on so you might be able to find them reasonably cheap.
Edit: here's a pic of the Riviera's in another thread: http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/vie ... 031#p10031

Those are cool for sure but I think I'm going to go the vintage XII route. It's a legitimate offset and if I ever need to get money back out of it it's easily converted back to cash and even has the possibility of turning me a profit. Of course I tend to never sell off anything cool which sorta makes all that moot.

A good cost-friendly alternative is the CIJ made strat 12's...they stay in tune pretty nicely and can be had in some interesting custom colors as well. I think they usually go for around $600-$700.
They have a modern 5 position switch and some of those strat tones sound great with the 12 strings.

Any idea what the Epi 12s sell for? Understanding, of course that theyre likely discontinued. They look great.

Headstock on my Hamer 12 string. The thing weighs NOTHING since I put the pearl buttons on. Balances perfectly for a 12 string and plays like a dream.

Don't forget that you have Shergold 12 as well, when you can find them. Very strong output:

I have a Kapa teardrop shaped 12 string, it sounds great, very jangley. I needa redo the setup though, as the action is rather high..

Sry I didn't catch this earlier.serial wrote: Any idea what the Epi 12s sell for? Understanding, of course that theyre likely discontinued. They look great.
I found one in Germany at www.guitar24.de but it doesn't come cheap, listed for €1679
This is more in the ballpark pricewise, although used: http://www.blackcreekguitars.com/2005_e ... g_blue.htm
Amazon USA sells it too : http://www.amazon.com/Epiphone-Elitist- ... B0002H0CNG
Vintage mid to late '60s examples do come up from time to time, usually priced $2000-$3000

Oh man...
I may be getting rid of my beloved Hamer 12 in the near future. Just got a quote for "the Ultimate" 12 string that I am not sure I can pass up!!
(my palms are sweating)
