I got one last fall and absolutely adore it. Different body thickness, neck angle, neck profile, and headstock from any of my other Vs. Light as a feather and plays really beautifully.

Love that goldtop!
These are the two Gibsons I own currently, although apparently I dont have any good photos of either of them!
2007 Les Paul Goddess.
As someone who likes Les Pauls but finds them to be an ergonomic disaster (I'm a tall guy but they just dont sit right on me at all, the balance is never right either) this guitar has turned out to solve a lot of those problems. It balances much better, it feels more like an SG in some ways, being smaller and lighter. I remember seeing these when they were released and thought they were cool but at the time it was wayyyy too much money for a guitar for me, and then when I decided I wanted one a while back it took about 3 years of watching ebay and Reverb to find a purple one that was not totally battered.
2017 Hummingbird.
This had always been my dream acoustic. I've had it since 2019 and its been just wonderful, its a total keeper. Although the fucking pickguard was lifting off, I took it off, cleaned it, reattached it with a proper 3M adhesive sheet and now a couple of years later its lifting on the edges again

'04 Deluxe. 9lbs 0oz. Replaced tuners and knobs.
'06 175. 7lbs 5oz.
'21 345. 7lbs 9oz.

The Goddess and the Vixen series were mocked at the time of release, for not being "Les Paul enough". Never understood why. Not all finishes were great, but at least Gibson offered something different... And I loved the minimal control layout. The weight was a bonus.

I liked it back when Gibson would come up with fun, cool new stuff, even if sometimes it wasn't what you wanted, at least they were having fun with it.Gordon wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2023 5:57 amThe Goddess and the Vixen series were mocked at the time of release, for not being "Les Paul enough". Then they entered into bankruptcy because of bad investments, but the internet idiots fail to realize that the guitar selling has always been very profitable for Gibson, of course. So now we have internet "wisdom" that Gibson was hurting financially because of some kind of "quality control issues", which is also largely myth, and so now Gibson just plays the fucking hits and the sense of fun and adventure has largely gone out.
Anyway, I had forgotten about those Goddess guitars. I like that one in the picture a lot.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

I kinda feel like we're about due for something new from Gibson honestly, seems like a no brainer to at least add a bunch of new finishes to their lineup.Larry Mal wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2023 6:10 amI liked it back when Gibson would come up with fun, cool new stuff, even if sometimes it wasn't what you wanted, at least they were having fun with it.Gordon wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2023 5:57 amThe Goddess and the Vixen series were mocked at the time of release, for not being "Les Paul enough". It does kinda feel like Gibson seems to think everything needs to have some like golden era credibility, I remember when they dropped those kinda tulip shaped guitars and all the marketing was how it was based off an old Gibson design that never got put into production like they thought it wouldn't have sold if it hadn't been.

I hope so, I guess there's a new CEO, a guy that's been there since the Henry J implosion.

Re: ...mind to show off your Gibson guitars?
I think this High Performance SG may have been the pinnacle of modern SG.
The neck is among the thinnest for Gibson, but they made it a little wider across the nut, so it feels more like a Jackson. They did a great job rounding over the edge of the binding, and the fret ends sitting on top the binding are all beautifully rounded as well. And of course it has a nicely contoured heel for easy access to the 24th fret.
The hardware includes a titanium zero-fret nut along with a high-quality locking aluminum bridge and tailpiece with titanium saddles. It has bezel-less pickups, a sealed toggle switch, aluminum truss rod cover and chrome knobs, and it came with robot tuners, too.
Everything about the construction and quality of this guitar is on the level of the best custom guitars I own. Feels and plays absolutely fantastic. This was also the year they came with the huge aluminum flight case.
They called this color Mojave fade.

All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

Your guitar collection never fails to amaze. It’s insane how many unique, curious and cool guitars you own.
How many do you have in total, if you don’t mind me asking?
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Re: ...mind to show off your Gibson guitars?
That is the most beautiful SG I've ever seen.
(And that's saying a lot 'cause a friend owns an original 1961 Les Paul Custom, white, with 3 PAF pickups, and the foldable, sideways vibrato .... Just like Sister Rosetta's. He's not a fan of the thin frets, but the guitar is lovely. )
Yours is too. Congrats.
I'm a fan, late convert to the SGs. Own 2 now, one with P90, other with HBs. Love them both.
