Nice! I saw a couple of these on eBay but couldn't justify bidding. The early 60s style double cut Melody Makers are super cool. What's this one sound like?
thanks!
i found this one on ebay actually- last spring i think.
it was in canada, and the price was low.
got lucky because im a stingy bidder lol.

the pickups and wiring harness are all original-
its a different sound really. vaguely strat or tele-like, but with more snap and growl.
somewhere betwixt a twang and a cluck maybe?
i suck at explaining sound.
but the guitar sounds very good, in any case- loads of character.
the pickups have these metal base plates, like on a tele, but smaller, im sure that adds something.

when i found this guitar, i was looking for a double cut lp or sg style for some p90s i have.
this was so cheap i figured id put them in it, but it sounds great, and is really in great, untouched condition.
so ive left it as it is.

My Late 70ties Vega P Bass. (Most likely made by Ibanez)
Typical "Made In Japan" stamped neck plate. Replaced the Pu with a SD Vintage for P-bass. Original didn't sound that bad, but the SD got loads more thumb.
Got it in a trade for a hidious metal guitar some years back. Only had to repair the headstock a bit.

These are both on the chopping block, very much so against my will, but while they're still in possession...

Ibanez made Rick 330 copy:

Nameless Les Paul copy:

The funny thing about both of these guitars is that they are two of the better playing guitars I've ever owned or touched. The first obviously wound't fool anyone in the know, and while jangly, has a pretty different kind of jangle to it. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the Les Paul fooled some gibson fans if you made sure to hide the neck joint (bolt-on) and stuck a gibson logo on it. Boat loads of sustain, and even though the pickups are old gibson pickups, it sounds just as convincing unplugged.

I've not got it anymore, but this was my Diamond ET-240 that I Bigsbyed up. I miss it, tonewise, but could never get along with the neck.

My Edwards E-LP-92CD. Bought this last year, previous owner swapped out the bridge Duncan JB for a Bare Knuckle Nailbomb, neck pickup is still a Duncan '59. Pretty much got this to satisfy my Manic Street Preachers/James Dean Bradfield obsession. Will be changing the pickups to SD Alnico II Pros eventually.
