I'll start.

vintage top loading Telecasters that have been sloppily retrofitted for string-through (usually that someone is asking an astronomical price for)
"reissues" with gigantic frets
poorly placed string trees
tremolo arms that sit too close to the body
shimmer

"Rare" and "sought-after" in basically every classified and auction. (OSG being a refreshing exception)

Gosh...

1) Cheap hardware on every Gibson and most other electric guitars that I have to pull off and replace.

2 )Poor or non-existent shielding on electric guitars, especially in the 21st century where there is so much more EFI and RFI noise compared to the early days of the electric guitar (which were often shielded better).

3) There being every bullshit configuration of Jazzmaster that there can be except for a gigging ready, working man's American Standard.

4) And even if there was # 3 see # 1 and 2, above.

Uncut string ends that look like it's a birds nest in really early stages.

The fact that, in 2016, every nut on every guitar is different. And none of them seem to have quite even spacing or slots of the right height.

A freakin' egg slicer could cut nuts better than Fender could most of the time.

All of these, but particularly the gibson and poor shielding. I have a Gibson smart wood studio that I love. It's light, bright and resonant, sounds amazing unplugged. The stock pickups were complete garbage. I replaced them, but now I want to go in and shield the whole thing and replace the entire wiring harness. Why should I have to do that on a quality, american made guitar?

I have no idea. I'm starting to kind of view guitars as like a "starter kit" of some kind. I'm not usually all that picky about pickups, but lame and cheap hardware really bums me out.

1:Jumbo frets.
2:Neck relief.
3:Tune-o-matic bridges,mainly the saddles.

These are my pet peeves,ymmv.

1. Cheap straps on vintage/expensive guitars.
2. "A modern take on a classic design!"
3. eBay listings where one of the photos is of some dino-rocker playing an identical guitar.

I hate the fact that every amp that is valve, affordable and less than 50watts runs on el84s. I know why it is, it's because master volumes and "valve saturation at home/studio levels!" is something everyone wants to say their amp has when most people who give a shit have a hundred pedals that will do great distortion tones with a clean amp. Just let amps be clean, use big bottles in your sub £500 amps. Your bedroom rawker has a £50 made in china pedal for when they want a dumb super-saturated sound, or at least a modeling effect that please them well enough.

Ugh, yes.

Nothing slows me down more than this when I'm trying to pack up. I'm pretty particular about rolling cables properly, if another band starts doing the above I'll make sure they're rolled perfectly before I move any other gear

today i passed one...it was an "AXE" guitar...
