NGD: 1964 SG Standard...grail obtained

Finally after many years i've been able to obtain what was previously unobtainium. My dream SG...the '64 standard. and this one is basically flawless. 100% original. only thing not factory is someone added a weird kind of emblem on top of the wheat inlay on the headstock. i could probably pry it off, but i'm going to just leave it. it sounds fantastic and plays just as good--definitely lives up to the hype.

here are some pics. i'll update my "SG Wall" later and post some pics of that.

Congratulations Hiwatt Bob! That's a pretty impressive wall of SGs!

I had a chance to purchase a '64 just like that earlier this year (and the price wasn't as crazy as I thought...) - I've always been a bigger fan of bat wing guard SGs and the '64 was so damn clean it looked like a reissue ... for some reason that factored in... I ended up finding a later '60s Standard (big guard) for a really decent price and went with that instead.

But in terms of how it sounded and played ... what a guitar that was. Lovely set of patent numbers that sounded just as good as the PAFs in my old '62 ES345 (if not better) and a nice round chunky neck.

May it wear well and give you many years of shenanigans.

That is some seriously STRONG pornography, HW Bob!! :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

That is, IMO, the PERFECT Gibson SG. And it's my birthyear guitar, too.

That wall of SGs!!!!
Speechless. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself. I’d just stand and stare at them all day.
