So who is playing Gretsch guitars?

For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

The Clipper is long gone, but the Chet Atkins will never leave. It's a '60 6119 and is without a doubt one of the absolute best guitars I've ever owned. I need to get some decent photos of it one day.

Big fan of Gretsch guitars and I've owned practically all of the "main" models of their line over the years. Once I found "the one" (a mid-60s Country Gentleman) I sold most of the others Gretsches, but still own that Gent, a Duo Jet, and a Black Falcon.

If my house was burning down though, that Country Gentleman would be the first guitar I run out the door with.

I've got two... a G6120-1959LTV (which I'm unfortunately looking to sell, as it doesn't get used enough to warrant sticking around, though it's a stellar guitar). Lacquer finish, slightly bigger neck than most modern JP guitars, TV Jones Classics...

The keeper is a '13 Stephen Stern Masterbuilt Duo Jet, also w/ TV Jones classics. Nicest guitar I've ever owned, including Fender/Gibson CS stuff, several small boutique guitars... this and my Jazzmaster get all my playing time (though the JM gets about 70% of the work anymore).

I love that Stephen Stern Duo Jet! I am dying for a SS Custom Shop White Penguin.

Same here!

I'd not heard of him until I started browsing for good examples of G6128Ts.
There's one of his on eBay at the moment, way out of my price range, that's close to perfect.

Absolute peach of a guitar. Beautiful subtle figuring, a total class act.

It plays as good as it looks, I tell you. And, as you probably know, that's not a given with old Gretsches. But this is a good one.

'The Beauty of The Burst' indeed!

It's exquisite, the centre of that burst is like a bubbling cauldron of caramel, all the figuring on 99.9% of the new ones is crass to the power ten but that's the full Goldilocks...juuuust right! I'm glad it's a good player too.

I never feel jealous but truth be told a tiny green monster has been birthed deep down and it's whispering just won't cease.

My god, yes!! That '56 Country Club is a beauty!!

Just the right amount of nickel, quality appointments on the neck & headstock, a gorgeous, moddy burst & Dynasonics!! Man alive, I'm in love!!
