NGD! Pelham Blue SG Junior
A few years ago when I started building guitars I told myself that from now on if I saw a guitar I wanted I would just build it. Well that had worked well for a long time, building various things I wanted, Starcasters etc, but I have fallen off the wagon of no new guitar purchases in a big way
I saw this and just had to have it, its a 1965 Pelham Blue SG Junior, all original and in a funky floral Gibson case. Its actually the first Gibson I've ever owned as Les Pauls are not really my thing, but this guitar is incredible. I'm somewhat blown away by the range of tones from just a single pickup, and its so light and well balanced and really effortless to play.
These are just camera phone pics, on a sunny day I'll crack out the proper camera and take some decent shots but for now these will give an idea of how it looks. Now need to get back onto the build not buy wagon

jellies, that is a really nice one man. Is the neck a bat or a thinner one?
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

That’s pretty awesome, and I am a not normally an SG fan. Let’s see the case.

The neck feels no thicker really than my 60s Jazzmaster neck for reference, so I guess thats a the thinner side.
Heres the case, not original to the guitar but pretty funky.

It looks like cloth but its a tolex kind of thick vinyl. Its very weird and very 1970s and totally amazing.

Oh, that's lovely. I had the chance to buy a bog-standard cherry-finished one for something like £1650 at a guitar show a few years ago and I was a complete idiot for not doing so. Also, that case: is my memory correct that it's from some weird range of limited edition cases that they made for a couple of years in the early '70s? I think they were called Artist Series, or something like that?

Re: NGD! Pelham Blue SG Junior
Hell yeah!! That guitar's gorgeous!! I don't blame you for biting the bullet. Aged Pelham Blue is pretty much up there with aged Lake Placid Blue. Maybe even better on the eye.
That case is great too. Really unusual but very, very cool.
Congratulations!

You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

That's very cool- I'm usually of the build-not-buy persuasion too, except for when I come across certain irresistable cool/old things, and that one would have suckered me in for sure. Spot on in all ways.
