Deal on 2008 Gibson Robot SG Special Ltd. Traded off!

There are some good deals to be had on the little known guitars out here.
Here is a 2008 Gibson Robot SG Special Ltd. These were limited edition guitars that seemed to be some of the better ones that Gibson had made during that period.
The Specs on these are:
All Mahogany body and Neck.
Nitro finished bodies in colors only available on these 1st Generation Robot Models.
50's neck profile with an Ebony fret board.
Pickups, 498T & 490R.
Nut 1.695 in.
Neck thickness- 1st fret .818 in.
12th fret .963 in.
These are the main points I found appealing on a guitar that listed for $3500, $2299 street and I bought one for $800 used in excellent original condition.
Now wait a miniute! So what did I do when I got it? STRIPPED IT!
I put new 500K CTS pots in it and orange drop .022uf cap in the bridge pickup and .015uf cap in the the neck pickup. Rewired it 50's style with clothe wire. And put grover tuners on it. Getting rid of all the robot crap. Which was not very good especially on the 1st generation. Which ment putting on another stop bar and tunomatic that had sensors or tuning crap in it.
This is the Nitro Red metallic color that had the carbon fiber looking pickguard which I did not care for. So I went for the white pearloid pickguard and the white reflector hat knobs. And also white switch ring and tip.
This was really an improvement on this guitar and it sounds and plays great. Sorry I can't load the pics of the finished guitar, but here it the original.

Wow, that is a fantastic deal. Where did you pick it up?

The robot guitars didn’t seem too well received. I was at Sam Ash last year they were blowing out cherry 2016 LPJR’s for $550-$600. Nice looking guitars, and I can look past the robo tuners, but the neck was god awful. It was wide & chunky, not like a baseball bat, but like a sewer pipe. They didn’t last long so apparently some people don’t share my opinion, or were just overwhelmed by the price & headstock script.

I’m sure there’s great robo’s throughout the years & it sounds like you have one to your liking. Get those pics up, man!

Well I traded the SG guitar yesterday for a 2015 Les Paul Less Plus thin body. A guy I knew fell in love with the SG and I asked him to trade me for the Les Paul thin body he had. So we did the deal! The LP has coil tapping with Classic '57 in the neck and '57 classic Plus in bridge and a 50's neck profile.
Nice flame in a desert burst. Here's a stock pic like mine.
