1965 Gibson Melody Maker

I got this in trade from Rio. It is my first vintage Gibson. (Also the only Gibson I have currently.) The refin is really nice. It has a couple marks from bubble wrap or something so I know I need to be careful what I put it in/on.
The new bridge and tuners work really well. Very stable. The neck is much thicker than I expected. Not in a bad way. It is thicker than the body. LOL It is super light weight. I really like that. Haven't got to put a strap on it yet. (All mine have straplocks.) The Lollar p90 in it is really nice with my pickup booster. Gives it some oomph. Here are some beauty pictures.

That looks so fun. Like all the good stuff about an old LP Junior without the obscene price tag. Plus with that bridge I bet you can actually intonate the thing.

Man that's a straight up rock machine! With the p90 and everything. What more could you need? !
I always liked the "Joan Jett" pickguard on these too.

Wow the Gibson is amazing... and the jag you traded is pretty cool as well, I'm sure that was a great trade for both of you!
The finish on the jag reminds me of aged ice blue metallic, beautiful!

woah...I know it's kinda blasphemy on here but I'm not usually interested in Jaguars. That one looks amazing. At first I thought it was a sixties Argentinian guitar. The colour and the scratchplate, and the fretboard wood. Very nice

Yep HNB did a wonderful job piecing it together. The finish is AMAZING esp contrasted with this wild guard and all the chrome

Congrats on the Melody Maker! I was on the hunt for one of these a few years back, but the timing/price/condition never seemed to work out, so I had a guitar made for me which ticked all of the same boxes and was also green, btw. I LOVE the neck in these because of the shape. Also, they have some heft without getting in your way. I’m sure that Lollar slays! Clips?

Thanks for posting that! The Lollar sounds great in that guitar, to my ears. It seems pretty darn clear and not very hot or compressed the way some modern P90s can be. Which amp were you going through?
