I haven't been around too much lately, but I find it apalling that no one has mentioned the G word yet.

Well, I mean, shit, there's a lot of other guitar makers that starts with G, right? Gibson... Gretsch, uh... Gittler. Right?

How did you already guess that?

Yes, but you're a bit of an acoustic guitar man and you said it wasn't obvious, so it couldn't be Gibson. The second most well known acoustic maker that starts with a G is guild. I also know that you pretty much only buy made in USA guitars, making guild even more obvious. It's all over larry, you're predictable.

What, no pictures? I just got a fancy new acoustic this morning too.

Well, I don't have it yet! Only bought it yesterday.

But, it's a D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee made in the New Hartford factory, which means it has a lot of upscale features but mainly an Adirondack spruce top, which I was wanting to try out. All my other guitars have always had the Sitka spruce top, which I have no complaints about, but I'd been reading on various other top woods and Adirondack is the wood that they used to use before World War 2 and such, now over forested and very rare.

What you had seen me maybe asking about on the Acoustic Guitar forum was the Richie Havens signature model, his performance at Woodstock is probably one of the most recognizable uses of the D-40 for a lot of people and I have always absolutely loved his performance and guitar playing in this clip myself. The guy was just improvising at this point of the show to buy time for some other performers to get there. Really something in my opinion.

But, the Richie Havens signature model does not have Adirondack, so that was not quite what I was wanting. I'm hoping that this Guild makes me never feel like I need a Martin D-18 or anything.

What did you get? Or do you want us to guess?

Fancy sweetwater pic of it. I loathe to buy it new, but I've seen a lot of martins with that shallow neck angle problem in my search. Not like really bad, but enough to convince me to buy a new one that martin will fix (neck resets for life is a pretty tempting reason to buy new). I was lucky and this one has a really good neck angle. I wish I could get on with dreads, but I personally think the 000 size is perfect for what I do.

I'm not exactly sure why guild is so underrated, I guess it's just recognition. I played a maple f50 a few weeks back that was a new hartford build and it was amazing, good choice. Everything I hear about that era is fantastic.
