Sometimes black is hot though :fp:

Glad it’s fixed! Does it sound different now?

Evidently!

With that said, the guitar sounds great with the new pickup. A tad bright with the 500k pot in it, but not in particularly bad way. Might try out a 250k pot in it just to mellow it out a bit, but I'm not in any particular rush.

Okay, played with it for a bit tonight. This guitar is loud and BRIGHT. But also, bright in the sense of "I'm a primarily neck pickup player and I put 250k pots in my Jazzmaster" kind of way.

So I'll be up at my usual crack of dawn 5:30 am and changing out that pot for a 250k pot. It's nice and jangly though, I will say that. I like to jangle, I like to chime, but even I have my limits...

I LOVE the idea of Esquires, but every time I play one, I can't help but think, "damn, this sounds great, but if it had a neck pickup also, that would be great" :fp:

Surf 90s are REALLY bright but they dirty up in such a trashy way. If the 250k isn't enough you could try a load cap, e.g. 2nF from hot to ground.
