Looks great Maggie, I much prefer it to the single cut you posted with the really awkward/ugly pickup mounts, much more elegant.

D
Thanks, D. I don't know if you saw, but I rejiggered the LP Studio to make it look (and sound) like a proper Les Paul. The Tokai still has that 70's gaudy thing going going on, but it might be on the chopping block. There's a Gretsch George Harrison Duo Jet at Lidgett's that I'd like to have.
I was referring to the other Eastman you posted in Misc, the one with the gonky pickup mounts.

I saw your LP's, you did right by both guitars but I'm not a Pauler or a SGer at all. I'm probably just a cock rock hating bigot but to me the SG is ugly and a little too horned god (and not in a good way, more in a forked beard sort of way) and the LP has a mountain of baggage I can't see over*.

However...being contrary...I don't mind them rolled together as the Yamaha SG, though to be honest I'm more into the sound than the looks.

D

*though I'd get the crampons out for a look at a staple Custom and I've played Deluxes I liked a lot and anyway for me if I wanted a guitar anything like that size and shape I'd buy a Duo-Jet (whih you have covered).
Are you loathsome tonight?

Oh, yeah, that "rockabilly" Eastman! You know, I find those plastic pickup surrounds so horrid, I wrote to Eastman and asked if the could make one with Dyna-Sonic pickups with no plasticky bits. Sadly, they don't have a contract with TV Jones, so no beans on that toast.

One of the reasons I stayed away from Gibson for so long, is, in fact, the Rockist baggage around them. But then I started getting into T Rex and Ziggy-era Bowie, along with early The Who, and, along with a load of photos of young Johnny Marr with one, it broke down my defenses on the Paul and SG. Maybe I just need a change-up? My songwriting has been shite to nothing lately.

All that said, I think the T64/v is the best investment I've made in a guitar since my JM Jaguar.

From the video it sounds very resonant... you're a shrewd operator, so you know what you're doing, but trading a Fano for a Chinese made guitar... that's quite the endorsement of Eastman

They're made in China, one at a time, by hand. Basically, they're Fano guitars, made in Bejing, by Dennis. IMO, they're better than the post Dennis Fanos.

I would compare the craftsmanship to Rick Kelly, Chihoe Hahn, or Danocaster.

Congrats on a lovely guitar, as the owner of a couple of their early acoustics (an E10M and an E20P) I'm a big fan of their work and their woods. Mine sound better with every passing year.
You say this one is loaded with Seymour Duncans Antiquities, I thought this model had Lollars as standard?
Either way I'm sure it sounds wonderful, enjoy!

I think Eastman just switched to Lollars in the T64/v this model year. Mine is a bit of an odd duck- instead of the standard ebony fretboard, mine is rosewood. The pots are 250k, which seemed odd to me when I found out that the Casino has 500k pots. I don't care, I think the 250s bring out the woody character of the guitar.

Man, I really need to record a demo of this.

I spent almost an hour playing it at the store (or so Rob, the storkeeper told me) through a sweet Milkman amp. It hit all the sweet spots of my heroes; Ribot, Marr, The Beatles, Wilco, Townshend, etc...
Congratulations, Maggie -- maybe you got a great deal because that's Rob's wife's name ::) But, yeah, Lidgett's is the best in the area AFAIAC. That sweet Milkman amp you played through used to be mine -- Red, right?

At any rate, you got a great guitar and it looks fantastic, as well.

Yes! A gorgeous red. I'm thinking of trading my Electrosonic for that Milkman, what say you?

Yeah, Rob and I talked about his family and our musical history and all sorts of stuff. I said to him, "Y'all are my people here!!!"

I'm going to be headed up there with a load of trade goods later this week. Want to meet up there? I really want that George Harrison Gretsch. I reckon I can trade my Sparkle Jet for it.

Oh, and what do y'all think of "Day Tripper" for a name for the Eastman?

The Milkman is an awesome amp. I know you have tiny amp town, and this will fit right in. I traded it in along with some other planks in order to get the daphne blue JM you commented on in another thread. I have a couple other amps and it had the most trade value. It was also just slightly underpowered in a live setting -- sometimes -- I like clean sounds just on the edge of breakup and it crossed the line too easily. I did use it on our recording recently at ARC, and it sounds tremendous.

I was planning on going to Lidgett's with a friend on Saturday. Was that the day you were planning on coming up? We could coordinate that.

I'm thinking about Saturday afternoon. How's parking?

Parking is free in back. Just buzz and Rob will let you in. Otherwise, there is usually parking in front with meters easily available.

Does your sparkle jet have gravestone markers and did you get that at Lidgett's, as well? I had one that I traded in a couple/few years ago. It had Dynasonics in it and the case had silver magic marker denoting the guitar inside (at the time I had a number of Duo Jets and I wanted to know which case housed which guitar).

I got mine from Dietze. It's got Filtertrons and thumbnail markers.

Thanks for the parking tip. I parked on the street last time, but it was a weekday afternoon.

We are probably going to be at Lidgett's in the noon to one o'clock time frame. We both otherwise have kid duty on saturdays, and that seems the most likely times we will be there. Maybe we'll run into you.
