I mean, that's a no-brainer if there ever was one.

I've been predicting that for a while... good call, Fender.

I notice that these Player humbuckers are Alnico 2, so they are almost certainly not trying to be reissues of the original. Still probably very good pickups, though.

I'll make the rare pronouncement that Fender has done a very good thing with this. I hope a lot of people get into Leads now.

I wonder if they are reissuing the Lead 2 or just the 3. The Lead 3 has really gotten expensive, but to me, the 2 is the all time classic.

Of course, I own one, so maybe I'm biased.

Based on the text with the listing it sounds like just the Lead 3, but regardless it's cool to see the body types back in action. Hopefully it does well and they make more of 'em.

I'd love a Lead I. It has such a strong punkrock vibe to me, it almost makes me young again just looking at it.

That’s unexpected and cool. I sort of hoped they would bring the Lead back in the original spirit of a more affordable US guitar, but that’s probably a scenario where one must be careful what they wish for anyway.

Nice. I always liked the look of the Lead III, but have never played one. I like that shade of purple. Interesting.
Hopefully one will appear locally when they're launched, so I can check it out.

Too bad they didn't keep the appearance of the squared off humbuckers and went with regular ones.

Are the nuts still kind of narrow on these? I see 1.65" on these, I wonder if that's the standard Fender nut.

I guess I could measure mine. I was always kind of hoping on the reissues that they would make it with a wider nut, I'm not always in love with the narrow nut on my Lead but combined with the thick profile it does kind of work... still.

The Reverb listing says 1.65".

Another in a long line of disappointing "reissues" for me personally (I like/want/NEED! them slim and narrow necks that Fender likes to pretend never existed).

I think you are against the trends of the moment, my friend... it seems that wider necks are à la mode these days.

Which I would prefer, personally, and I have a Lead and a Jaguar with the older narrow nuts that you prefer from back in the days when that was the fashion.

A Lead reissue isn't really for me...but my goodness, would I ever be happy to see that metallic purple on more guitars. What a gorgeous colour.

I'm not sure A-size necks were ever really in fashion, though. But at least they were obtainable at one point.

Honestly, you all might have seen me tepidly putting my Lead up for sale here, and I never really bumped it or anything... I was thinking that my luck would be to sell it right when they reissued the Lead and then the vintage models became hot and valuable.

Which I really don't see happening soon, but at least interest in the model should rise.

No idea how they aren't still part of the lineup, it's such a great body shape, and it really is a cool guitar that could slot right in at a more entry level.

At least the 2, anyway... I never knew all that much what to make of the 1 and 3 humbucker models. They are probably cool.

By the way, though, I watched an interview with Roger Miller of Mission of Burma and he and the guy that actually owns the Lead 2 that Roger plays all the time talked about how they pulled the original pickups for some kind of hot wound Seymour Duncans or something.

I forget exactly what, my point is that if you get a Lead 2, you aren't getting the Mission of Burma sound exactly.
