NGD - ‘74 Ibanez Concord 755
“You will not have been mortally wounded in vain!” “I think I might pull through, sir.” “Oh. I see.”
I found this on Facebook marketplace the other day and was planning on getting myself a little birthday gift, but the wife picked me up from work yesterday and it was sitting in the back seat. She gets me. I’ve always wanted something Hummingbird-like, and this fills the void.
The bridge is coming up slightly. I’ve never fixed that before, but it seems pretty simple to do from the YouTube videos I’ve watched. And I’ll probably switch the pickguard for a more proper Hummingbird one.

Congrats (on the guitar and birthday) !!!
Nice one, been looking out for a deal on one of these too. I like the XII ones with the hockey stick headstock, too!
You plan on changing the pickguard to a Hummingbird one?

Very nice! Congratulations on a “new” guitar, a great wife (those can be much harder to come by) and another year above ground!
A lot of the old Ibanez guitars are good quality, either as-is or are easily brought back into being a great guitar again. A lot depends on the previous owner(s), how they treated it & what all they may have done to them, but for that time period and the prices, some great guitars. I have 3 old ‘80s electrics that I bought, had set up and they’re great guitars.
I assume that acoustics are more fragile and harder to get into shape if something’s wrong, but it sounds like you got a good one that’s going to be an easy fix.
Out of curiosity, how do you replace the pickguard on one - heat it to loosen the glue?

I'm sat here looking at the exact same guitar, it was my mum's since the 70s, I learned to play on it, its such a lovely thing. I couldn't read the headstock when I was a kid and thought it was called a "Hanes". Unfortunately its got a cracked headstock. This reminds me to get it fixed.

You really should.
With the likelihood of it playing and sounding nice, you also have all the nostalgia to go with it. Even for just a practice guitar, it seems like it would be very worth it.
