Cobain Inspired Telecaster

Post by HNB » Thu Apr 02, 2020 11:43 am

I got this GFS body cheap when they were on sale. It was listed as flawed because of a glue mark under the burst and the neck pocket is a little wider than normal. :)

I routed the body for dual humbuckers and installed the pickguard and bridge. The bridge pickup is a Super Distortion and the neck is a generic covered humbucker I had around. :) (I don't use neck pickups much so it is mostly for looks.)

Added the decal I made yesterday and I will start spraying clear on it today.

Headstock clear is done and got some old dirty Gotoh non branded tuners loaded. (It says Gotoh on the underside.)

Waiting on strings to come in to mount the neck to make sure I get it drilled straight. The custom neck plate is pretty awesome. :D

I found a set of strings while cleaning. I was able to get the neck on and tune it up. I am just missing knobs and string tree.

The pickups work GREAT together. I forget what guitar this came from, but it is nice and not muddy and the middle position is like a solid mix where it is less bassy then the neck alone and less trebly than the bridge alone. It is REALLY good sounding. The high E has that tin noise from missing the string tree. It intonated great and action is low. All the parts were fairly cheap and it turned out great! The "oversized neck pocket" actually fit my Mighty Mite neck just fine. Here are progress pictures.

Very cool, alright I have to ask about the waterslide, are there fonts on line? I saw the decal material but where are the fonts?

They are online and with Photoshop. The "L" I use for my Lilith logo is modified though.

All finished! The string tree helped a ton with the high E string. Sounds beautiful!

Wow, you really put projects together fast! In the time it's taken me to "consider" which of my projects to prioritize, next, this whole things came together :D

Great work as always.

Thanks! I think it was because I used poly spray for the decal and the neck and body were already finished. It was just routing and wiring with this one really. Didn't take all that much time. :)
