NGD: AO60s Tele BMM

I think it’s no secret how much I love Teles. I don’t own many guitars anymore, but the ones that get the lion’s share of playing time are my Martin, Höfner, and Tele.

Congrats on the NGD, I LOVE double binding on a Tele and would implore you to not swap out the ashtray bridge for something non-traditional. Callaham makes a very nice replacement bridge that is notched, with compensated brass saddles. I’ve had it on mine for 14 years and absolutely love it.

That is one sexy Tele. And I think that bridge is a fair trade-off.

I love the ashtray bridge on my Squier CV & definitely go in for the myth that it’s the extra metal that makes it sound so damn good.

• MJT Thinline body (mahogany back)

• ’50s Roadworn neck (refin’d by MJT)

• Lollar 52’s

• Callaham bridge

• Mojotone electronics with 4-way switch (series/parallel)

Every once in awhile I’ll get the urge to start looking at what official or vintage offerings are available and quickly realize I’d be paying a premium for what I already have. That tends to quell my thirst for a year or two.

I am a bit over vintage Teles at the moment...I gave up chasing them earlier this year...the prices are just insane!

I'm happy with the '08 Tele I have now, which cost me a fraction of the amount I'd have to pay just for import taxes, if I went vintage.

It's not often I'll say "This is finished" with a guitar. But, well, this is finished:



American Original 60s Telecaster
Kinman noiseless bridge pickup
Gotoh low-profile bridge with brass compensated saddles
Seymour Duncan Custom Shop Brad Paisley Secret Agent neck pickup
CTS Push-pull 500k pot (just options of bridge or neck)
Treble bleed
Dummy tone pot load
Electrosocket
Custom single hole plate with cupcake
Tuners upgraded to Kluson Supreme
Mastery string tree
Back of neck stripped of nitro and oiled
Stickers.

Now, you all know I'm a 1-pickup kinda person but occasionally when I'm layering guitars I need a neck tone to shift the dominant tone. The secret agent seemed to be a good idea and I found a good deal on one. It actually sounds a little like an acoustic simulator!

Anyway, I don't think there's anything else I'd want to change. Nothing left to upgrade.
