OSG Rickenbacker (and Rickenfaker) thread?

For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

Oh it is, trust me. Small, lightweight, oh so brutal!
Didn't a member of MC5 play one?
Yep, Fred Sonic Smith had his (12 string) modified with old PAFs

...but somehow what made me pull the trigger was the Babes in Toyland and Hole (not sorry) connection, even though they played the single pickup version.

I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

I love you. I've been searching for a small button tuner that I wouldn't have to redrill for. It doesn't look like the locking ones will work, but the standard seem to be fine. Thank you SO much, seriously.
Oh I love you too.

I think these are the same with locking posts. Verify the dimensions diagram, but they look to be the same to me.

These too

The difference is the height of the post and hole for the string. The non-locking is 22mm (0.84") and the locking is 20mm (0.75"). The Rickenbacker headstock is a frustratingly thick 0.75" on its own.
I didn't think much of this until now when I'm playing the guitar and headstock very much didn't look to be 3/4" thick. Measured with a caliper and got .69" or 11/16". This is how many wraps I've got with a .046" string, easily two with a little gap underneath. I'm not a locking tuner guy, but if I really wanted them I'd give it shot provided your headstock is the same thickness as mine.

Just installed the Gotoh's on mine. I had to use the Schaller thread / inserts like you said, but went smoothly otherwise. These things a dream to tune with. Nice and silky smooth, and less clunky than the Schallers.

My Rickenbacker family photo:

left to right:

1978 4001, 2008 620, 1998 330/12.

Since I've had the 330/12, I've been majorly GASing for a 330/6 too! even though the 620 has actually overtaken my offsets and teles as being my favourite 6 string :D
