I like how the gain bridge pickup riff is Thin Lizzy. I do the same exact thing with my LP.
It's my litmus test for a bridge, medium crunch sound. When testing an amp or a guitar. If it can't do that thing, I'm disappointed.

The guy I bought this off grew up down the road from Lynott (along with my drummers dad). Which makes it even more fitting.

Shame it's so heavy and so valuable. I'd love to gig it
Saw you took it to rehearsal. Funnily enough I did the same with my '59 Jazzmaster for the first time that week. Realised it would always be in my hands/in sight so why not.

Not sure what your gigging rate is, but certainly for me it's more frequent on the rehearsal side, so I'll be using it lots now which makes me happy.

A decent compromise for you maybe?

Yeah, I've used it at rehearsal a few times now. Nice to take it out. We only do 8-15 gigs a year and rehearse maybe 20-25 a year (roughly once every 2 weeks). I like to mix it up at rehearsals where there's time to experiment but at gigs I tend to just use something that's super reliable - which is normally my Telecaster.

Hot damn that sounds good. So articulate.
Articulate is the exact adjective I'd use too. Even with a lot of gain or distortion it's still crisp and the notes still ring.

what does it weigh?

A paltry 9lbs 12oz :D

My old 79 I had in 1999 was 14lbs so I know it could be worse but I'm definitely feeling it

It sounds great! There’s not a lot that one cant do with a pair of good p90s 8) The staple has more clarity than I get with standard neck p90s. I really like it. I wouldn’t mind sticking a modern one in the neck of mine to see how it sounds.

Probably because it's essentially a big fat strat pickup with adjustable poles. And 'big fat strat' immediately makes me think of, well, Jazzmaster neck pickups!

I think any P90 with AlNiCo rod magnet poles would sound 99% there. Would recommend.

Nice video Johnny!

Sounds lovelyyyyyy. If end up buying a '54 reissue, I'm absolutely going to blame you.

Also, this made my week ;D ;D ;D

Also, I've never played it so badly in my life! I'm not one for extra takes so, meh, fuck it.

Guitar sounds real good. Funny to hear you speak. I’ve heard your band, but for some reason your accent threw me off when I heard it. It’s like I forgot that you’re English or something.

I can see how that would happen. When I see the odd video on here from people I know just online (like HNBs demos) I really enjoy hearing the voice behind the text. And it's great to hear all the regional accents too.

I've been lucky enough to meet a few people from here in real life and everyone has been (predictably) super nice.

My English accent is definitely on the 'common' or lower class end of the spectrum so there's a lot of bad pronunciation :D and swearing
