That's a fun video, nice work and as always, great playing.
Go back and look at your facial expressions. Trussart, you're projecting a bit of attitude for the camera. 75 Fender, you're either grinning to yourself, or you're absorbed in the music.
For me that would make an obvious choice.

The Steelcaster looks cool and is a unique instrument. But based solely on sound, the 75 Tele is the one to keep.

I voted to sell the Steelcaster, because that finish on the Tele is amazing.

What did you end up doing?

Honestly? Tough call as both sound good.

Speaking from experience, it's really really REALLLLY easy to get newguitaritis about stuff like this, and claim X new instrument is going to be your main squeeze going forward. Like a lot of players, in the past I've wasted a lot of time, money and effort shuffling the herd all the time and I never got comfy, until I bought a Jag used and just went "deal with it" every time there was a problem that distracted me how much I loved the neck and the twang before I tamed it and brought it under control. Best decision ever, for me. It's now my "til I die" guitar, I'm sure of it. If I wanna write, jam etc, even with friends who themselves own some nice guitars (one has a lovely ES-335 clone, another a gorgeous all-white AVRI type Tele Standard that sings) the Jag is the one I'll want, without question. Tracking a demo in the studio? Jag. It's an easy non-choice, in that it chooses itself.

With what you've said, and what I hear (tonally they're different but honestly both great from what I can tell) Special Metal is the winner. It's rare, it'll only increase in value, you talk about the acquisition with enthusiasm like you know what a good deal it was, it's comfortable and familiar to you. Unless it's constantly pissing you off and you're always wrestling with it cos it fights you too much and you hate that, it's the keeper. You sell that and it'll be something you lament in years to come, like I do with a certain '78 Marshall JMP 50W head I had that sang beautifully and sounded like a Marshall should (it's worth 3 times what I sold it for now too), and there will be regret and asking yourself "why did I sell that?" just because it felt right in the moment.

Also, and it's a small point because usually I love flake metallic finishes, the '75 Tele's black metallic isn't visually appealing to me personally, and it pains me to say that as a Catherine Wheel fan, believe me.

UPDATE:

I took both to the studio where we started pre-production for our new album and did record with both. I decided to sell the '75 Tele. Despite the cool looks and vibe, it kinda started to bother me after a couple of tracks; like I was wrestling it for no reason, and it just didn't sit right in the mix. I also managed to sell the '77 Strat with noiseless pickups, which was cool, but kinda did not work as expected in the mix either, especially compared to my '60s Partscasters. Being a true CBS Fender junkie, I bought a different '78 Telecaster the next week.

I'm curious how's that one gonna work :D so far so good, it is typically heavy for the era, but sounds really cool.

However, this thread inspired me to actually sell the Trussart as well. I think I'm gonna put it on sale after we finish the record, save up for a bit and then buy something really nice.

Came for the playing, but stayed for the looks of mild disgust!

A good guitar is like a good woman - there should be some fight in her, she should challenge you occasionally to keep you honest, but not too much. If she's wrestling every decision you make, she's got to go. You can quote me on that. There needs to be some comfort and feeling of home about them, like they're not immediately going to be a pain in the arse every time you pick them up. Every 1/5 times, maybe live with it 😂.

Your guitar, your choice, but if in 2 years you're making a thread about wishing you hadn't sold the Trussart, definite "I told you so" :P

Hello. We are a diverse forum representing all walks of life. Please refrain from this sort of talk as it won’t be tolerated by the mods nor appreciated by your fellow members. The internet is filled with plenty of guitar forums who normalize this kind of speech. We are not one of them.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.
