I just got a '63 Airline Rocketship! Sort of...
I'll be ready to rock as soon as it gets here, but somehow I don't think the guitar will be.

so are all those holes in the back stock? i see the screw holes for a cover, and the finish looks old enough to be original...

I love the look of these....are the parts easy to find?
this one's meant to have a couple of white strips, right?

I'd go without so much care of the vintage correct thing..you can put some common covered HB and a wrap around bridge to make a beast from it..

what the ****** DID THEY DO TO THAT POOR AIRLINE?!!
I sure hope those arent sex-holes.
You can get some of those humbucker sized singlecoils from eastwood, theyre supposed to sound fairly similar. I really miss that woody spank of my old airline...

Yeriree, them holes is stock fer sure! I've seen many like it and this particular one was being parted out on the 'Bay. I just happened to be the guy that won the best part: the body and neck!
Some parts for this will be easy to find, others not so much. But what I've decided is that any new parts I put on it, I have to make myself. Except the tuners and knobs and pots and the impossible stuff. But the new pickguards, pickups, back cover plate, pickup-mounting rings, tailpiece and bridge are all gonna be hand-crafted by yours truly.
The real reason I got it is to make repros. Some of you are familiar with my "Offset Airline" design that I'm currently building, but I want to be able to make closer-to-original guitars in this style. This one will primarily be used for measurements and making templates. But of course, I want to play it someday too!

Okay, I know I said I was going to make the tailpiece for this myself, but I won this instead:

sweet!! That tail peice will be a lot easier to replicate now that you have an original to check out. Looks pretty simple in fact. I'd be willing to bet you'll need to go to a metal shop for the milled aluminum part, though ey?
I'm very releived that those sex holes are stock:)

Yeah, getting that aluminum chunk milled might be a little difficult, but the other part oughtta be pretty straight forward. Getting the bit that wraps around the back of the body offset at the right angle to put repros onto offsets however...
